John O’Donovan, top, following an incident at a water meter protest at Ashbrook Heights, Lehenaghmore in Togher, Cork this morning.
Earlier, resident Suzanne O’Flynn spoke to Neil Prendeville on Red FM about tensions between the Irish Water contractors and her neighbours this morning.
Suzanne O’Flynn: “They went to drive straight into the estate. Two of the residents were standing there. And the van, literally, a centimetre away from them.”
Neil Prendeville: “Are you saying that the truck drove at them intentionally?”
O’Flynn: “Yes, I am.”
Prendeville: “And they jumped out of the way?”
O’Flynn: “No, they didn’t move. The truck stopped, I’d say they thought they were going to move but they didn’t, they stood.”
