Another side of the work of celebrated American war photographer Robert Capa, currently on display at New Yorks’s Governor’s Island as part of an exhibition by the International Centre Of Photography.

Better known for his black and white images of the Normandy landings and the Spanish Civil War, Capa also worked with colour film from 1941 to his untimely death in 1954, recording – among other things – intimate portraits of artists, writers and actors in the 40s and 50s.

Above: Pablo Picasso and his son Claude at Vallauris in France; Ernest Hemingway and his son Gregory at Sun Valley, Idaho and Humphrey Bogart and Peter Lorre on the set of Beat the Devil, at Ravello in Italy.
