Time to P A N I C so !!!!!!
And a death rate of “up to 90%” will continue to be reported. Technically correct, etc, etc.
In this case I think its fair enough.
Its alright that people know that if this were to get out of control, it would mean serious shit.
In fairness no-one in the first world really cares about Africa.
The west & china will just seal the continent off, let it run it course and then strip it of its natural resources without any pesky natives getting in the way !
does Africa really care about Europe though?
If all the NGO’s left and the western aid dried up they might care.
A hemorrhagic fever that spreads by droplet transmission whose best-looking treatment is an experimental one that has so far saved one person. Don’t panic is the rule, yes, but don’t underestimate the potential – the second last time we had a dose of a nasty hemorrhagic fever in Europe, we called it the Black Death (the last time was Marburg fever in the 60s and 70s in Germany).
I thought it had saves three now?
Dammit I’m all about the typos today.
Not yet. So far Zmapp has been given to seven people (two from the US, three from Liberia, one from Spain and now one from the UK). One of the US doctors has recovered, the other is recovering but not cured yet, two of the Liberians are stable, the third Liberian and the Spaniard are dead, and the UK guy just got treated yesterday so no news yet. They’re officially out of doses now and are making more.
The Candians do have an experimental vaccine and have shipped a thousand doses, but all it’s a vaccine not a cure, and all these things are experimental and nobody’s done trials yet – Zmapp’s not even cleared for human use, this is all last-ditch desperation stuff.
Not sure it spreads by droplets
http://www.cdc.gov/vhf/ebola/outbreaks/guinea/qa.html
The virus is spread through direct contact (through broken skin or mucous membranes) with blood and body fluids (urine, feces, saliva, vomit, and semen) of a person who is sick with Ebola, or with objects (like needles) that have been contaminated with the virus. Ebola is not spread through the air or by water
Bed rest and some flat 7up. Light a candle too. Be grand hey.
