If you apply to join GB and NI an extra £15 will get you a UK citizenship medal. Though you’d think we could stretch to something more classy than a polypocket and a souvenir shop lapel pin flag. What about a nice leatherette presentation folder with a brass effect clasp?

well if you’re going to become a citizen of a country where the government gouges its people any way it can, you may as well be introduced from the outset to the policy of ‘start as you mean to go on paying’

The price charged here for citizenship is disgusting and without any justification whatsoever. The Civil Servants responsible for fixing the price should hold their heads in shame.

      Indeed welcome.
But be prepared for a great deal of racial intolerance and discimination based on the colour of your skin and not your citizenship.
      Especially out in the sticks.

Welcome, free to take my place when I emigrate to anyone living on some refugee camp in Louth.

Congratulations to our new citizens, and we apologies for those ignorant people who were born here and received their citizenship for free who will treat you like 2nd Class Citizens.

It’s only partly their fault as the 3rd class Irish state has consistently failed to educate its ‘citizens’ on the meaning, duties and responsibilities of being a citizen, the nature of government, the constitution, the legal system and the laws of the land.

Sadly, your children who attend or will attend primary and secondary school will have to learn a moribund language instead – which is of no benefit, and which will make not one iota of a difference to their education nor benefit them in the future.

I assume you’re referring to Irish? It’s exactly that attitude which perpetuates this belief that it’s worth nothing. As with any language, you get out what you put in. Also, p**s off with your use of “moribund”.
