Fairly meta, in fairness.

Please can the “it’s a great opportunity to get experience” and “well you have to start somewhere” brigade allow this to be the final nail in Jobbridge coffin.
I’m half way on this. On one hand, when you are trying to break into a new job, you sometimes have to take a shite job/internship to ‘prove’ yourself. However, this should only be with an employer who will employ you if you do well or if it actually does help you get the experience you need and isn’t just a way for someone to get cheap labour – which I think a lot of Jobbridge seems to be.
In my case, I got the experience I needed and was paid enough to cover my rent and bills at least but I get the sense I was lucky!
I was running an agency until recently and I inherited two staff members who were hired this way, one was previously a waitress and the other an admin, both turned out to be amazing recruiters and are doing great.
You were workin’ as a waitress in a cocktail bar
When I met you
I picked you out, I shook you up and turned you around
Turned you into someone new
Now five years later on you’ve got the world at your feet
Success has been so easy for you
But don’t forget, it’s me who put you where you are now
And I can put you back down too
Whaooh we’re half way there, whaoooooh livin’ on eclairs !
Serve it up now, I’ll eat it I swear,
Whaooooh, muchin’ on eclairs……….
(Don’t ask, it happened in myhead, that’s all that needs to be said)
“who were hired this way” couldn’t they have been paid?
“who were hired this way” couldn’t they have been paid?
“Business development through cold calling” – they don’t even try and disguise it. Sounds miserable
They can’t even be bothered to pay for a call centre worker – hardly a massive bill!
No amount of happy anecdotes can excuse slave labour. What is wrong with this country –Its Internment not Internship.
Slave labour? What the what now?
Fuppin hell! This is getting crazy. Of all the countries that you might be able to survive on slavery allowance, Ireland is NOT the one.
Down with Job bridge!
