Friday November 28: Eglo Records Night – Floating Points, Fatima & Live Band, Alex Nut, Colm K @ The Sugar Club, Leeson Street, Dublin (€20)

Nialler9 writes:

Alexander Nut and Floating Points’ London Label is one of the best in the UK for electronic and soulful music. On Friday, both founders will be DJing and playing live and the presence of the singer Fatima (above performing La Neta), who released one of my favourite albums of the year makes it a must-see.

Sounds good but suffers from the never ending problem that afflicts young bands in the studio.
Everyone in the studio knows the lyrics off by heart, they have lived with them, slept with them, woken up at dawn with a wee tweak, laboured for hours and days so they unbenowingly bury them in the music.
Lift the lyrics a bit and it is a good song.
Leave it as it is and you get the 10 second switch off.
If I want to listen to a song then I want the voice, the words, I want you to lead me into your world and to hear your ideas not the cleverness of the mix.
    That’s for later.
P.S You did get the switch off but I thought it was worth telling you why.
