3) Told a Rathcormac school to stick their funding requests up their hole because they hadn’t voted for him, adding that they had a “fabulous” layout of Portakabins

Fair play to him, rode the gravy train all the way to the station.

We all get at most 80 or 90 years, soak up all the gravy, all.the.gravy.

    Morals are for eejits.

Another fella elected by mistake I suppose?

    LOADSA GRAVVVVVY!!!!!!

  2. Rep

The first two sound like something from The Savage Eye ffs! He deserves to go down for longer for the third one alone though. Sure sign that he is an awful person. How do people vote for people as horrible as this?

  3. ahjayzis

A well deserved imaginary jail sentence.

A real deterrent. It’s almost as good as a real sentence at a fraction of the cost.

Wow, I was just recalling that incident, and found it goes on quite a bit.

The response? allocate female ushers later shifts.

Instead of disciplining the slobbery oul letches properly or, god forbid, closing the Dáil Bar and making the place look more like a place of business than a wild west saloon.

And fair play to yer wan that kicked yer man in the shin. Maybe they should give the female ushers steel tip boots and karate lessons instead of moving them around where they won’t be distracting their excellencies when they have a feed of pints inside them.

So what’s the full list now

    Bertie
    CJ
    Lawlor
    Burke
    Callely
    Foley
    Flynn 1
    Flynn 2
    O’Keeffe

I feel I am missing someone, or some people? Anyone?

On the other side is it only Lowry? Which isn’t great really, in comparison.

    1. irlandesa

      Ah, now.
“… the level of criminality involved was at an extremely low level”.

He’s only a small bit of a thief.

I nearly choked on that one!

      1. andyourpointiswhatexactly

Gas. Just shows how much of a dope he is, if he thought that shower were too fancy-brained.

  6. DD

And Neddie was delighted that he and all the other naughty little animals could trot along and have themselves a happy fun filled christmas.

  7. Shockabilly

memorably referred to a group of his constituents who were protesting the proposal to site a Merril Dow plant in a scenic part of east cork, as a ‘shower of screaming balubas’

    1. mauriac

ah balubas , a blast from the past.came from a tribe Irish u.n. soldiers encountered in the Congo and became a pithy term for an uncouth idiot.

So, he overclaimed €3700-odd on the invoices, is that right? And then, he was fined €3,500? So, he comes out of this €200 ahead? With just a suspended prison sentence? But I suppose he’s from a good family and chances are the judge was appointed at either the behest of FF (Ned’s party) or FG (his solicitor, Mr Buttimer’s brother’s party is it not?).

      1. Clampers Outside!

And the fact that you could call him, if you wished, any of the following on the street now….

        thief
        fraudster
        cheat
        scumbag
        crook
        criminal
…to name a few. I do take a certain delight in that. Yes, shaming these fupps in public is good medicine for these CRIMS!

    1. Soundings

I take it back, he repaid the €3,700 and he’s been fined €3,500 on top. Still though, for a crime that’s very difficult to detect and committed by someone in such a position of, ehem, authority and ehemcough, trust.

Did ye hear the foul mouth on him on his way out of court telling journos to *beep* off, had they nothing better to be covering. Nothing like a criminal truly remorseful for his crime, and this was nothing like that.

      1. B Hewson

He paid 1 week of his defined benefit pension that we have fully covered through our taxes. He will have another €10k banked before Christmas, the FF convict pensioner.

    2. delta V

According to Pravda RTÉ, he’ll repay the stolen cash to the State, as well as the fine. They muted the audio of him cursing at the journos as he left court though…TV3 footage has it.

  9. phil

Search back through the recent history in the courts for items relating to a family member of his, its very interesting what charges were finally brought against him based on what he was arrested for….

Now before anyone reaches for their solicitor , I accept that the DPP will only bring charges where the DPP is reasonably sure of a prosecution. The accused may have been considered a PEP, but what he was accused of was shocking…. IMO….

        1. phil

Dang it, Im totally wrong, completely wrong!

I got him mixed up with another EX – Cork Politician , I retract everything I have said, and Im am very sorry to have mislead the good people of this site…

mea culpa, Ill impose on myself a months ban on posting , and donate to the Peter McVery trust …

          Again apologies ….

  10. Soundings

Media coverage of the hearing today has been outrageous, the defence solicitor, Frank Buttimer’s predictable downplaying of the crime was relayed in full, there was not a word about what the prosecution said. Where is the balance in that?

Ned was allowed turn up in court in an unmarked police car, a Toyota Avensis. No black maria for our Neddy, sure he comes from a good family.

In my opinion, the sentence should be reviewed and increased. Defrauding the State of €3.700 and when you have such a position of trust and authority deserves exemplary punishment, but the fact he’s walking away with a minor fine and suspended sentence is a disgrace.

    1. B Hewson

Half of the muck savages who voted for this greedy convicted crook would probably vote for him even if he stood now. Can’t wait to chip in towards his €150k per year defined benefit pension from my taxes on my next pay packet. FF thief.

  11. Frilly Christmas Everyone*

Think there was a dodgy pig feed episode in the history of Ned.

    Cursing outside the Courthouse
    No surprise I suppose

    From a former Minister?

    Jesus Christ.

Anyone with an inkling of returning their vote to Fianna Fail should note that that ignorant grubby Ned DNA is in all their blood.
