No Limerick Today

John Moynes

For three years now,
John Moynes has beaten his brow,
Conjuring lyrical tricks,
In topical, daily ‘ricks,
But owing to family health issues he’s taking a short rest,
All at the ‘sheet wish him the very best

All those of us who read John’s rhymes
Which tried chronicle our changing times
    Do wish him the best
And a little bit of rest
So when he returns he’ll be in his primes

Good luck, John. Hope everything turns out ok.

I promise not to read limericks by anyone else until your return. Have a good Christmas.

    I’m worried when Chompsky arrives
And tries, how he does, -how he strives
But he can’t seem to see
    (Like Moynsey and me)
Limericks, their lines come in FIVES.
Fives I said, not sixes. Never sixes.

    Best wishes John

interestingly sestets have six lines, and can take a form similar to a limerick in their rhyme pattern…

      1. One Dub

A sestet is always preceded by an octave, and bears bugger-all relationship to the mighty limerick.

Don’t get me fookin’ started on bleedin’ poetry.
I get meself into a terrible fluster, and who knows what might happen?

    2. One Dub

And don’t worry Chompsky, I think I’m close to getting it.
That was a very good effort at bad poetry, and I couldn’t have done worse meself.

      Six lines?
      6 lines?

      -What were you thinking Man?
-I’ve been reading it and re-reading it for hours now, in all the accents I can think of.
It still wont scan properly for me.

I demand my money back, instantly.

      Thank you.

Goodness, you’re right! WE SHOULD ALL KNOW. It’s completely our business, after all. What else would you like to know about his private life? I’m sure the lads will work quickly to get that information to you.

Echoing the love and support of other devoted readers and hoping all is well very soon, John!

Sincerely sorry to note Johnny Moynes sick leave

But wtf BS. Family matters and heath matters no ones business only the Moynes’

And private and personal stuff is always off limits.

If yere that stuck for personal drama get Mick the Flavin to do another pic

    1. Chompsky

Sorry Frilly, we felt it appropriate to explain some background as John hasn’t missed a limerick a day since he started ‘ricking on the site in 2011.

        He’s one of yere own

However if Limerick a day didn’t appear I doubt I’d notice

I wrote this poem just to say
I’m thinking of you, John Moynesie, today
Though your meter is poor and your scansion erratic
You actually sort of get used to it after a while

To a poet who’s always seemed sound
Best wishes and thanks do abound
    For his daily limericks
    The reaction was mixed
But you’ll miss him when he’s not around
