Any priest who uses the altar to promote personal views and lifestyles that are contrary to the documented teachings of the church should be neutralised without delay.

Find this quite hard to believe but I’m in (partial) agreement with ABM.
If any mid-rank manager of a major conglomerate publicly and explicitly contradicted and rebuffed the organization’s carefully constructed PR poo, he’d be sacked within 24 hours. This is precisely what Fr Martin has done. I’m not sure whether the RCC is listed on any exchange but, if it is, I can only imagine the impact this has had on its share price. The investors will NOT be happy. He should be handed his P45 pronto.
(Having said that, what he did displayed courage, compassion, honesty and dignity. And I applaud him for that. Still, it’s one more for the dole queue.)

Seriously though, that he’s been allowed to get to this stage is unbelievable. He can’t be well in the head.
It’s a disgusting, self-centred, dishonourable thing to do. He’s betrayed the church that educated, trained and supported him. Worst of all, he’s spat in the face of his fellow clerics and, by all accounts, has lead countless faithful astray (a very serious crime for an ordained priest).
Using the altar of God as a platform for his disgusting habit – a disgrace. For his soul’s sake, I can only imagine that the mental illness card is his only key to heaven (unless he spends the rest of his waking days devoted to prayer and contemplation in an isolated silent monastery with wooden beds).

It was interesting. The judge pretty much called Drumm a very smart liar. I wonder if they can catch him on perjury, then?
I’m punching the air this morning. US judge did something that we couldn’t do here. Drumm got a fair hearing, was caught out and is now possibly facing criminal charges for his conduct in the bankruptcy court.
He will be paying for this in many ways for many years.
Whatever about the priest, personally I was delighted to see Mac from “Always Sunny in Philadelphia” on the cover of the sun.
