If The Da Vinci Code takes you longer to read than To Kill a Mockingbird, you are probably missing the point of both books.

Multiply Shakespeare time-to-read by 10 because you need to keep looking up words in the back, and divide the Twilight Saga by 100 because it’s so predictable and simply written.

Not really. If you want to read Shakespeare end to end, you’ll become damn well proficient in early modern English after Richard III.

Joseph O’Connor’s Star of the Sea has taken me about 2 years so far as I keep lapsing into a coma every second page

‘A feast for crows’ in the ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ probably took me 98 hours alone because it was so terrible.

I think I must be a slow reader, according to these figures. Although they obviously refer to completely concentrated time-spans, which can be hard to come by if you’re easily distracted by noises.

My “Sophie’s World” reading time is currently over 15 years. Got about 1/3 of the way through it, and unless it stops being po-faced twaddle, I shall continue to not read it for a very long time.

Only book I’ve never finished (yet).

Why does A Song of Fire and Ice get lumped in as the large example? It’s a terribly written saga.
The much better (but far, far from perfect) Wheel of Time comes in at 4.4million words or 244 hours.
I know this because I counted them.

Even if you do not count the boring section in the middle it comes in at over 3million words.
…. Good, god. 1.4 million words of boring books.

Yes…I get to walk around tomorrow with a smug sense of intellectual smugness and unbearable douchebaggery.

War & Peace is the longest single book below the bible’s reading time? Fupp that, read it twice!
