   Yep, it’s a sun halo – a result of suspended ice crystals which interact with the light emanating from the sun (or indeed, moon).

   I dragged one of my kids out into the garden to see the lunar version of this last night.
   Looked very cool, but unfortunately beyond the capabilities of my phone to capture….
