Sad news. I was only reading about him at the weekend. 67 is no age.
Condolences to his family and friends.
RIP Derek, great man to listen to on the radio.
That’s terrible news. He had a great presence on the radio (TV too, but especially radio). Gave off a great warm, gentle air. RIP
Aw, that’s a shame. I always liked Derek. Condolences to family and friends.
Loved his fishing, met him a few times over the years. An absolute gent.
Thats sad.
I remember him from Live at 3 and that charades show he did with Twink from my childhood.
Did your parents not think to ask how they got into the house?
Inappropriate. But I gotta smile at that.
“Play the Game”.

Derek Davis, in a pound-shop , with a basket, buying deodorant
Literally the first thing I thought of. Cracking tune, for a lovely fella.
Sad alright….was on Vicent Browne only a few weeks ago too. I remember form the afternoon show, live at 3 and Play the Game, hosted by Ronan Collins.
RIP
He sounded in fine fettle on radio on Sunday.
Nice man, RIP.
Always brought a smile to my face, will be sadly missed.
A nice man and an excellent broadcaster. What sad news.
Fond memories of throwing up Guinness onto his brogues out in the Harbour Bar smoking area one sunny Sunday while he was reading the paper. Didn’t make a big deal out of it, just left. A true legend, and the true face of school sick days off. Rest easy fella
A very gifted broadcaster and an absolute gentleman. Always loved him on TT and radio for his wit and honesty. RIP.
Ah, that’s sad news, wasn’t he on the radio just the other day?
Much preferred Liveline during the summer when he took over.
One of the best RTE ever had
Only they never knew it
RIP Derek
Indeed. He would have been ideal for The late Late.
exactly this. i played live at 3 in the 90’s, he was a total gent and consumate professional. rip
