A Late night call to the vicarage…

Most interesting – had a phone call [Last night] from someone claiming to be a non attending parishioner of mine urging me to tell my parishioners tomorrow to vote no – Had a fulsome and reasonably courteous debate but assured the said person (who only gave me a first name) that I would not be directing the congregation from the pulpit despite my own widely known views.

After the phone call ended I did an internet reverse look up on the telephone number and discovered that the number was nowhere near my parish and was infact the number of a prominent solicitor used by a prominent organisation campaigning for a No vote!

I decided to phone back and got the person (not incidentally the solicitor in question but they did admit their location) and same individual was a little bit rattled – I don’t know if said person is a parishioner and lives in my parish as they claimed but to me it was all a little less than transparent – This sort of behaviour only serves to undermine whatever cause a person is advocating – It certainly did nothing to weaken my resolve to vote YES…

Mmm. Pulpit? I have *never* seen a Protestant minister speak from a pulpit. I don’t even know if our Protestant brethren even have pulpits? He sounds like a typical relativist – Protestant lite if you will (with apologies to real Protestants of stern conviction who are authentic in their beliefs). You can facilitate all the aspirational, brainwashed, Irish Times-reading ex-Catholics for all I care. Rugby isn’t good enough for them anymore – they want cricket now. They’ll want gay adoption and trans* lessons for 6 year-olds next. These people don’t believe in God – they want to be reminded that they’re great and they need to be told this every week. They’ll do more damage than good in the end.

Our priest gave a distinctly short sermon this morning. He spoke briefly on the issue on conscience before reminding all that we have a duty to follow our conscience – we have a choice: vote to uphold a truth or vote to enshrine a lie into the constitution.

Just to square away the main thrust of your bullshit this time, yes Protestant churches have pulpits and are an extremely important part of the furniture during services. Next time The Vicar Of Dibley is on, give it a go. You might learn something about Christianity.

With that all said , it’s also a term used metaphorically.

But then you know that. Just up to your usual hi-jinks then, eh?

          Cricket indeed.

Oh ABM has a lot to learn about Christianity. The very basic concept of Christianity continues to allude him on a daily basis.

They do, they also have compassion for their fellow human beings. Unlike trolls like you.

I often wonder, if some of those extreme No campaigners had gotten the ride at 16 or so like the rest of us would they have turned out different, mellower or a bit less focused on other peoples’ preferred ‘slap and tickle’ friends?

You do realise that anal sex isn’t solely a homosexual practice, by a very long way??

I think I opened up a whole new world for tm ever since I mentioned Santorum the other night – he/she can talk of little else since

You cannot step in the same river twice – Her-a-clitoris

There’s also a special definition of the clitoris in article 41 according to noted constitutional scholar newsjustin – it defines where it can be found but you just have to look extra hard for it

If you have to ask that question Lorcan then you don’t know where it is !!!

I’ve often thought the same about the lads fupping off to ISIS. I’d say not getting the ride is responsible for a lot of the world’s problems, at a pretty basic high level analysis anyway.

Agreed. Often wondered at the intense interest in other peoples danglily bits was a response to their own not being up to much.

Desperate measures from the No camp despite all the stories in the Indo about closing the gap.
