It would be interesting to see if Dobby has any business associations with Tipp-Ex

  2. martco

hoping bigtime that the unforeseen consequence for him in his blind arrogance is that his Moriarty sins are revisited and he’s properly pulled apart

  3. Truth in the News

Rabbitte was on the Radio this morning expounding with verbal florishes as to
how difficult and the length it would take to establish the facts abuout IBRC
and they way they did business, its really a diversion, where are the rest of
Labour Party, there there was no word out them all when the dung hit the fan on
Friday, the thing that emerged, is that Rabbittte at 66 is not wanted, and will
have to scamper off to his burrow with his Fat Pension

    1. Medium Sized C

Wait….dung hit the fan on Friday?
I thought we understood from the judges comments yesterday that there was no actual crisis to begin with.

That it was just DOB’s lawyers being pricks and Media outlets being scared and confused as to where they stand?

What exactly would Pat Rabbitte have done there?

      1. Truth in the News

Expounded on the Constitution and defended his rights as a TD.
There wasn’t whimper out of him was there.

  4. topsy

Well done Broadsheet. None of this stuff is being printed by the Info. Keep it going.

    1. Medium Sized C

You should probably go find a better article.
One that doesn’t make massive immature and stupid logical jumps on the subject matter for a start.
And while you’re at it one that has already run out of its “8 reasons” by reason 4 and has swung away into quasi-political rhetoric.

      1. Fergus the magic postman

Article aside, the fact remains that the censorship bills would allow a shady government to block anything that shows them in a bad light.

        1. Medium Sized C

Would also allow a non-shady government do something about genuine attempts to harm people.

          1. Medium Sized C

Give us an example of when in the past, this government has passed a bill with the specific intention of giving them greater powers to suppress criticism and free speech and then used that bill to suppress criticism and free speech.

          2. Medium Sized C

Because you have just intimated that this government does that sort of thing.

So we’d have to sort that out before we even touch the rest of the broken logic and innuendo that you are trying to pass off as a reason not to pass legislation like that.

          3. Fergus the magic postman

@Medium Sized C: No intimation about it. This government make the last one look good. That really says something because they were awefull. Labour in particular are HISTORY when the fumes run out.

I’m sorry if that hurts your feelings, but it’s their own fault.

On the bills in question, if they had already been passed, the last few days would have been very very different, and if you think otherwise you need to get some fresh air and steer clear of the fumes I mentioned earlier for a while.

          4. rotide

So in short, You cannot give the example that Medium asked for and instead chose to spout rhetoric.

            You’ll fit right in here.

          5. Fergus the magic postman

            Ah, there you are.

Considering how the “[REDACTED]’s 1.25% Interest Rate” post went so viral, it is quite interesting that a lot of very regular Broadsheet posters (who usually can’t keep quiet about anything) have had zero to say on the matter.

Looks like things could get rocky again with today’s release of injunction details.

          6. Medium Sized C

            Fergus, you aren’t helping yourself.
You clearly don’t know what “intimations” means, you don’t know how to form an argument, you don’t appear to be able to to defend your position without accusing someone who challenges it of bias and you finished off with an ad hominem capped piece of rhetorical garbage.

            You lose, good day sir.

    2. martco

ugh Lorraine Higgins did u have to mention HER?

here I am here trying to enjoy my brekkie sambo in peace and then you have to go and utter that name

a wee bit of decorum please!!

      ;)

    3. bisted

…thanks Fergus…these measures read like an electronic version of the blasphemy laws which are currently leaving Ireland the envy of half the countries in the world and a laughing-stock with the other half. Hopefully, they will disappear into oblivion with Rabitte and the rest of the Labour party traitors.

  5. manolo

[redacted] should walk away if he was smart, but his ego won’t let him. This whole thing is going to blow up right on his face. All going well, this will make for great entertainment.

      1. Frilly Keane

Sur they (is there even a half’a dozen of ’em) need any
        Humility
        Is not for them
        Humility
Is the property of the below the liners
        Humility
Is for the girl that has to go into the community welfare office this morning and ask for nappies and milk powder
        ‘Cause her last few bob
To see her to Thursday went on topping up her gas card to heat her sh1t gaff over the sh1t weekend

    1. Medium Sized C

How does it blow up more than his financial affairs getting into the public domain?
Wasn’t great craic for him the last time.

      1. Clampers Outside!

His PR campaign will blow up, be pointless, etc. The man is on a mission to give a ‘clean’ appearance. You don’t think he gives that money to the FAI out of the kindness of his heart or love of the game do you? He does it to make himself look good, it’s PR.

But he will be remembered for his corruption.
        Nothing else.
        If he’s remembered at all.

        1. Medium Sized C

I think he gives money to the FAI because he is rich as all fupp and likes football.

          .

Let’s hope that this focus on O’Brien continues. Soon after Enda took power, he said he would refer the findings of the Moriarty Tribunal to the DPP. Since then, there seems to have been a change of heart by our government and Labour as the supposed watchdog, seem happy that the multi-billionaire media baron is at the heart of sweetheart deals and debt write downs.

Perhaps with an election coming up, our government can do the decent thing and ensure justice is done. As the general public are now engaged in O’Brien’s affairs, it would certainly give their re-election chances a boost if they pledged to ensure that this is followed through. It may also help FF and SF to include following up on the Moriarty Tribunal, Siteserv, etc. in their election manifestos.

  7. Supercrazyprices

The two types of ‘successful’ Irish business person:

    1. The kind who thinks good business success is ripping people off, cheating and not paying suppliers.

    2. See number 1.

    1. martco

sorry don’t think that’s true, sweeping generalisation there…tons of decent people around

granted there is a league for sure where people of [redacted]’s ilk play where they like to compare size and size is all that matters etc. but thankfully you only get to meet this type very occasionally and avoid (helps greatly to have the wrong school tie in that situation)

  8. Truth in the News

There is an urgent need to establish a Dennis O’Brien appreciation society
and in addition a financial support group to assist him in litigation expenses
indeed the government might establish special agency that acts in secret to
help in any future borrowing that his companies require after all its in the national
interest, and a special marketing agency headed by James Morrisey to convince
the public to support the concept.
