Lack of sufficient packaging plants means there’s irish milk being processed abroad. No huge conspiracy
And a jobs famine in Ireland.
If only it was as simple to set up a plant as saying “hey there’s unemployed people over there”.
9.8% unemployment isn’t great but its hardly a “jobs famine”.
Also, your flippant use of the word “famine” disrespects the memories of people who actually starved to death or died of related disease in great numbers.
no it doesn’t.
Yes it does.
You’d have to really inspect it Caerphilly to cop that.
Very good, bravo!
Tread caerphilly for you tread on my butter.
brilliant!
Great post my dairy

Thanks for clarifying that.
“We understood this was solely because the butter had been packed into smaller units in the UK. Because the butter was produced in Ireland we concluded the claim ‘Pure Irish Butter’ was not misleading”
Could be actual irish butter moved in bulk to UK to be packaged?
TIL you can freeze butter.
It’s a bit like O’Donnells Tipperary Crisps… So the spuds are from The Premier, but the crisps are made, packaged and distributed by Largo Foods in Co. Meath.
What is ‘The Premier’?
a ship or a dairy
Really?
OK, I should have said from Tipperary i.e. The Premier County of course :P
We’ll see about that Sunday.
hon tipp…
G’up outavit. Yew!
Very few Irish dairy products are processed in Ireland. I, being the irritating pedant that I am, tend to only buy products that have an IE in that circle. Why should I support jobs in Wales or Northern Ireland while also paying tax to fund the unemployed here?
Damn right; so easy to support jobs in the Irish food sector like that. If only you could do the same with bread, processed/packaged goods etc.
a number of years ago i found that dunnes own brand cheese was in fact from the uk. i was moved to write a stiffly-worded letter to the times.
hrrrmph
Did it go your whey?
Yeah m&s do the same, they got a strongly worded email too.
Why not build a giant fence all around Ireland and then you’ll be happy.
Omar lives in Brentford, he wouldn’t be able to come home then.
Jesus, a simple questioning of packaging becomes an all or nothing prison state in your head.
Am just surprised anyone seen it as some sort of issue in today’s world where companies can set up business wherever they like.
When idiots and the internet collide.
Calm down little man
