So, I’m not appalled by the Times having pictures of covered dead bodies on a beach on their front page. But I was appalled when the Irish Daily Star did it with the Berkeley body bags.
Is there any excuse for this other than hypocrisy?

Exactly. Such hypocrisy. And what’s nuts is the people that were shocked by The Star wouldn’t even bat an eyelid or think twice after seeing this cover.
High probability those bodies aren’t Irish. And Tunisia isn’t as cool as California.

Sexy death toll a sexy number also – half a dozen

On reflection, I think what the Star did is still worse. Given the number of victims and the smallness of Ireland, I’m pretty sure there are people who looked at that front cover who knew they were looking at their dead friend or family member.
There’s less chance that that happened with today’s papers. But it’s still not ok.
The answer here is to not put pictures of dead bodies, whoever they may be, on the front of newspapers.

I do think those photos are appalling, actually – and the photo circulating on social media yesterday within half an hour of the killings, showing a couple dead by their loungers, was unbelievably so. You can be guaranteed that someone found out about the death of their family members by seeing that image.

Nah…..Really?
Really. There’s even a (pretty good) film about it: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3169706/
