This year’s January sale at Brown Thomas, Grafton Street, Dublin
We’re back, baby.
Apparently.
A surge in spending on houses, cars and household goods coupled with growing employment has seen consumer sentiment hit levels not seen since the height of the boom, a survey has found.
Retail sales volume rose by 3.7 per cent in 2014 while the value of the sales increased by 1.6 per cent indicating a significant upturn in activity. This upward trend has continued into 2015, with sales volume up by 6.6 per cent in the second quarter of this year compared with the same period last year..
Using data from multiple official sources, the report highlights the 40,000 houses sold in 2014 and 21,300 in the first half of 2015…..
Hmm.

it’s what I was thinking of :)
Yeah and this “surge” in consumer and its NOTHING to do with the increased visitor numbers and weakness of the euro in the border regions? Please ignore the flat-lining unemployment figures please- we’re back baby etc..
I wonder if the employment figures are flat-lining due to less people emigrating? Anecdotally, I’ve heard of less people leaving than in the last few years, with a few even starting to think of going back.
You had a bunch of students graduating in the last few months. If they stuck around and didn’t leave like previous classes, that could help flatline the figures. With the strong growth and healthy tax returns, the unemployment figures should start declining again soon anyway.
Seasonally adjusted tho
Of course, those with the BT membership would have been in for the pre-sales.
We don’t mix with the riffraff on the day.
