UK embassy in Tehran is on Bobby Sands Street. Formerly Winston Churchill Boulevard. Ultimate trolling by Iranians pic.twitter.com/v3cvPGnYhu

To ensure letters to the embassy didn’t have to use Sands’ name, they sealed their main entrance on the street.
Officials then broke down a wall at the side of their compound, and so their address changed to Ferdowdsi Avenue…
And in 1981’s other news…. the first Delorean rolled off the production lines.
This.
But we may be showing our age.
that’s why the embassy moved their front door to the back door. (that’s what she said) nice one, Iran.
^ eh? eh?
Thumbs up!
Fitting tribute to a great UK parliamentarian.
Winston Churchill? It would be more fitting if they put it back in his name. Now there was a great parliamentarian
Haha, that’s some high level trolling from the Iranian’s.
Yes good ol’ Ayatollah Khomeini. What a guy, what a guy what a meat pie. The world’s not been the same place since he passed away 27 years ago.
I see Storyful has its finger on the pulse…
Nuthin’ on the internet gets by these fellas
The Irish Embassy’s Passport & visa section in London is on Cromwell Road.
Apparently named after Oliver’s lackluster son who had inherited the position of ‘Lord Protector’ (dictator) from his auld lad.
Didn’t know that, now.
Ferdosi has a bus stop on it. I’m sure that’s why they did it.
Theres a cafe in Tehran called the Bobby Sands Burger Bar, complete with walls adorned with pictures of his life and the hunger strikes. The ironing.
is delicious
Don’t ask for Brown Sauce. It gets authentic.
The Bobby Sands burger bar in Tehran is brilliantly fashioned with the colours from the wrong side of the sectarian divide. Apparently most people in Tehran don’t know anything about Ireland, but lots of them know the name Bobby Sands. Good martyrdom connectin s’pouse.
I also love the story of deh brits busting out the side wall of the embassy in order to avoid the humiliation of using Sands’ name on their postal address.
Iran, I’d fecking love to go someday.
Jeez, I though even the dogs on the street knew this. The internet really is beginning to recycle itself over and over.
Not all of us have finished the internet yet Conor.

A great aul theocracy.
Good place for a Weight Watchers.
I suppose they could rename all of the surrounding streets, so they could also have Bobby Sands Avenue, Bobby Sands Road and Bobby Sands Way….
