There is a theory of The Lulz:
that in the white heat of derision and abuse all your pretence will be seared away and you will be reborn as a being of pure thought
or
you will go away and stop posting crap.

The netizen does not want you here, with your popularity and empathy and goodwill to all men (except nerds). To this end our friend has deployed sockpuppets. They may entertain, engage, irritate or enrage; they may appear naïve, ill-informed or polite and reasonable.
The goal is to get people to open-up, express themselves, to fluff out their arguments and expose their weakness or supply ammunition to the puppet master.
This is always useful.

I am not looking forward to the general election. (Shill Bingo)
I thought this was worth a look after the demise of The Guardian comments forum.
