An animated preview of the Valravn Birdseye rollercoaster, designed and built by Swiss engineers Bolliger & Mabillard. The massive ‘dive coaster’ opens next summer at which point Cedar Point theme park in Ohio will break ten world records at once. To wit:

Tallest dive (223 feet); fastest dive (75 mph); longest dive (3,415 feet); most inversions on a dive coaster (three); longest drop (214 feet); highest inversion on a dive coaster (165 feet); most roller coasters taller than 200 feet at one amusement park (5); most rides at one amusement park (72); most steel roller coaster track at one amusement park (52,125 feet/9.9 miles) and longest total roller coaster track at one amusement park (60,110 feet/11.4 miles).

I remember two Spanish girls refusing to get on a roller coaster at Universal Orlando because there was a family of extremely fat Americans about to go on, the father was easily 25 stone. The Spaniards were genuinely concerned for the safety of the thing to hold the Americans and were not shy on letting everyone know. Oh how I laughed!!! In the end they just let two other people go ahead and take their place and to be fair, the two that took their place were reluctant enough. Fortunately I was far back enough in the queue that I wouldn’t have shared the ride with said fatties. Most people around me were tut tutting at the insensitivity of the Spaniards, but I thought it was hilarious.
