People showing sympathy for people they wouldn’t want living beside them in their leafy suburb.

You appear to have the astonishing gift of telepathy. Ever think of making a living in that game? I bet you’re telling me to feck off right now with your MIND!

Lots of people wouldn’t want Travellers living next door just as Travellers are not always keen on living beside settled people. That doesn’t mean they don’t want SAFE, decent accommodation for them – or that they can’t empathise with such heartbreaking loss. It’s not an either-or proposition.

Once you get over your prejudice you realise that Travellers are normal people too.
They’ve done a helluva lot more to integrate with the rest of us than some ‘settled’ people seem prepared to do.

And yes, it is a Culture, with morals, beliefs and customs you don’t capable of tolerating.
    That’s your problem.

    Awful tragedy, RIP.

I wouldn’t want to live beside Travellers OR J1 Visa students. Or scumbags, or addicts. Why would I?
Though they all lead pretty risky lives, everyone is entitled to safety in their dwellings. It seems to go unnoticed that the last decade showed several buildings worldwide falling under human weight and also failing to meet fire standards – the latter especially in Ireland. These families may have been quite happy in their pre-fab homes (as many of us were to be schooled in) but had no idea that they had no fire-safety provisions or clearances.

    I live beside Travellers.
I’d forgotten that I do until you mentioned it.
    -Weird, eh?
