A lot of folks find it quite strange,
To queue in a shop and arrange,
A big awkward stash,
Of low value cash,
So we’re saying goodbye to small change.

But what will happen when I want to give my two cents?
You could always go back to Coppers.
That is on the money.
FINALLY.
Part of the slow withdrawal of cash from people’s wallets. Soon it will be card only based transactions, meaning every time you transact, the bank will charge you a commission for moving your money and your spending habits and exact transactions history can be accessed by hackers.
Children will be given debit cards instead of their couple of euro pocket money to learn the value of money and what you can get for what.
Beggers will go around with handsets!
then armegeddon
WTF, ever heard of take care of the pennies and the pounds will take care of themselves… Everything will go up in price, because we don’t have the currency. Slowly but surely paying anything by cash is getting more and more difficult, it’s our loss..and yet nobody seems to give a damn.
Nobody seems to give a dime.
I hate to be the one that breaks this to you Verbatim, but everything does in fact go up in price. It’s called inflation.
This way at least we won’t have pockets full of useless 1c pieces
So instead of their being 100 parts to the Euro, their will be 20. Probably something to do with decimalisation.
The change will do us good, badum tish !
….to coin a phrase.
punters may not know that, unlike themselves, businesses are charged by banks for lodging cash. This is c. €5 for ever €1000 lodged in notes and 2% of the value for coins. Added to the percentages charged by credit card companies these charges add to the price of your latte. It’s effectively a tax on businesses that trade in cash – one that is not levied on any other type of business.
