Just as the government introduce an ATM usage tax BOI introduce measures forcing more ATM usage.

I didn’t know about the charges at all till you mentioned it.
Besides for fightin’, this internet is great for sharing info altogether. :)

Oh wont it be wonderful when all money is digital and they can turn it off with the flick of a switch…

Sorry to hijack this semi-related story but I am getting spam texts from both BOI and Danske Bank all friggin’ day. Not a customer. Anyone else experiencing same?

    1. MoyestWithExcitement

I got spam emails from Ebay and Royal Bank of Scotland telling me to update an account I don’t have. Did the text include a link for you to follow? Could well be the same scammers.

      1. Spaghetti Hoop

Aye that’s the one Moyest. I let both institutions know. One of them ironically asked for my mobile number, ha.

Still waiting to get paid. I’m going to leave BOI, overcharging scumbags. Then they screw up your SEPA wages!! What are we paying for?

It’s the only way they’ll learn learn to respect their customers.

I ditched those useless shower of Man juice years ago, when they tried to loan me €55,000 more than what I asked for (mortgage) then told me and I quote “we won’t earn enough from what your asking for” and then turned me down. That was 2008.

      1. Anomanomanom

No, our property is now worth more than we owe. I went with AIB, say what you want them but they were the only bank who would deal with us. Halifax to there credit definitely seen the poo coming they would only lend us 55%.

I would think they’re have to credit back the charges for missed direct debits if the problem was caused by them not being able to deposit your wages.
If not, I’d be writing to the ombudsman.

I’ve been with BOI since I was 8, (prudent parents..) – BOI texted me to tell me how happy they were to renew an existing (small) overdraft facility I’ve had for 15 years+ for the fee of 30 Euro (+arbitrary POMA* interest rate). 1. It was hardly ever used in the past 2. if used I would have been charged per use – hence not inclined to use it.

The cancelled my visa last month, replaced it with a master card with no explanation, or consideration of the inconvenience it caused.

A bit sick of them, the inertia is my fault, no more.

I basically use mastercard for all purchases then pay that off once a month. Single change. F%^&* the police.

    *Banks

A great many honest academics have now uncovered the truth behind what really happened during the “Famine Years”. Firstly, IT WASN’T a Famine, it was the first ever Western European Holocaust. It was a massive population cull by the British Crown and Imperialist British Government. It worked a treat.

According to their own airbrushed history, in “1864 – The BANK OF IRELAND pays interest on deposits for the first time”. Suddenly without any rhyme or reason the BANK OF IRELAND decide to start paying interest on deposits. This means that, although Ireland was just coming out of a HOLOCAUST, the BANK OF IRELAND are making such massive profits and surpluses, so as to be able to administer and issue interest payments for the first time ever in history? Where did these massive profits come from? They came from the harvest and sale of Livestock, Meats and Foods that were removed from Ireland during the years 1845 to 1850 under gun and protection of the then British army. While Irish people died on the roads and in the gutter.

Bank of Ireland treat their customers like rubbish, take your business elsewhere is my advice.

Most people don’t even need a bank account. A credit card and a credit union account do all I need, money-wise.

  12. Truth in the News

If you have a deposit with the BOI pull it out and anyone who pays you with
a BOI cheque, tell them use another Bank, its time they were crippled and
brought down after all the money that had to pumped in by the Taxpayer to bale
them out…..what they are trying to do is to increase the value of their shares
a mass boycott with have them quoted in pence again, indeed you could buy
them up and finally kick out the crowd who are still there, who did all the damage
    initally.
