This may not be a new thing but I have only noticed it in the last few days. When trying to look at a public page on Facebook, without being logged into Facebook, a black screen (above) slowly moves up the page as you scroll down the page resulting in the page being blacked out. So now you can’t look at public pages on Facebook unless you’re logged in?
Anyone?

It’s just Facebook trolling you with black face.
I always thought you had to log in to view any page of FB….. news ta me, if that’s not the case
CO, I’m not on Facebook but I’ve viewed some pages – not sure what the restrictions are really, maybe you can restrict them from ‘inside’. Oh, and another thing, I don’t really care.
When I read Helen’s comment, this popped up: http://38.media.tumblr.com/1dfca2c3f356f2cae828cd5ec38a5088/tumblr_nm60n4PIqB1qb5gkjo1_400.gif
fb is to be avoided at all times.
tis the work of the divil..
Let’s burn it!
Pinterest do this exact thing too
I think there was some privacy-related court case reported in recent weeks where someone obtained a ruling that Facebook should not show pages to non-facebook users. So it may be new facebook behaviour. I have often been able to view facebook pages (and profiles without privacy settings) without being logged in.
I use uBlock Origin, a browser extension. Went to the Facebook page in question, waited for the obfuscation screen to load, right-clicked and selected “Block element”. Since then, I didn’t get that overlay anymore.
“Facebook is for bellends.”
The above statement is fact.
when the machines take over, the matrix will be made up of all the data facebook has collected over the years.
Ye and they’ll make a crap version of the people who are not on it because of incomplete information. Probably should get myself on facebook.
Have you seen Black Mirror?
i never thought of that. my ‘reality’ will be here and adverts.ie.
oh dear..
Noticed this too. I noticed also the X at the top right corner of the mentioned black banner that closes it…..
YES!
I think a lot of folk confuse that X symbol with a kiss.
