Gemma O’Doherty reported last month that Ann Doherty believed she had identified a new location in Donegal where she suspects her twin sister Mary Boyle – who vanished in 1977 – may have been buried.

Ms Doherty wrote to Garda Commissoner Noirin O’Sullivan requesting the area to be examined, on foot of new evidence she received last month.

if it were me, i’d go and excavate the site myself and have as big a media presence there as possible. an awful situation for Mary Boyle’s family to find themselves in.

FG took part in a huge one a few years ago, I’m sure it will surface during the election if it’s mud slinging they intend to use instead of policies.

Political interference in 1977 would have come from one of the two large parties at the time FF or FG, SF would have had no political influence then.

SF are responsible for everything bad that has ever happened in the last 100 years, did you not know that?

On the off chance that there was anything there, then any forensic evidence would be tainted and inadmissable in court, I would imagine

It would be helpful if we had some idea of what this evidence is, rather than the idle assertion of its existence. Unfortunately, the world is full of people who are only too happy to write anonymous letters saying that there’s a body buried in the back garden of that man down the road they don’t like.

have the gardai ignored her or decided the evidence was insufficient? there’s quite a difference.

They’ve been ignoring her for a long time now. Several former Gardaí support her claims that the chief suspect is known to her, but this man has apparently never been questioned.
Former gardaí also support the claim that a few days after the childs disappearence, a politician requested that certain individuals not be considered suspects.
Gardaí have never been shy about questioning somebody whether evidence existed or not. Something smells of cover up to me.

And the only serving TD at the time in Donegal still alive is a member of a current government party.

Where does this belief of location come from and what evidence substantiates it. I understand they searched an area of bog previously based on the word of a Psychic. I feel sorry for family but they must have some evidence before this search can go ahead.
