Trick Mist – Another’s Tale

‘Irish Electronic Songwriter’ Gavin Murray aka Trick Mist writes:

I make Trad/Electronic songs in Manchester. This is video No.4 from the ‘Gap Series’. These are videos made for my EP ‘Jars in Rows’ but without my involvement in the process. Basically I’ve invited film makers to give their own visual interpretation of each song, entirely free from my input.

This video for sean-nós inspired ‘Another’s Tale’ was created by animator Freddie Leyden. The video, all 14GBs of it, is an incredibly detailed affair and is equally frantic, trippy and unnerving. I never thought I’d mention sean-nós and gigabytes in the same breath but there ya go!. ‘Jars in Rows’ EP is out now [link below].

It’s not like it’s a commercial project, I would agree with you if it was. No creative should give their time for free to something which is going to make money but this is a case of two artists collaborating knowing full well there’s no money in it… IMHO.

Also, not entirely my cup of tea but it manages to be distinctly irish without being overly twee and also not falling into the oft-trodden route of looking abroad and mimicking what’s popular elsewhere. Well done Trick Mist, I say.
