      I was near the back and apparently there were people at Dame Street before we even left the Garden of Remembrance. A photographer at the Spire told us that it had taken an hour for the march to pass him.

    “We pay for it twice you know”
    “No way we won’t pay”
    “It’s time to get rid of the establishment”
    “They’re quaking in their boots”
    “RTE are just shills for the government”
    “Water is a human right”

    At the R2C protest around 4.00 pm last evening, a rather pompus RTE Journalst
    accompanied by camera man edged his way into the crowd close to the public address platform, it was a delight to witness his hasty exit when members of crowd expressed their opinion of him and RTE…the only surprise that it has not occured a long time ago, RTE in the early morning news bulletins forgot to mention that there was to be a public protest in the City of Dublin in the afternoon
    This is the National Broadcaster paid for by licence fees, whose job is to report
    the news, there is something wrong with the running of RTE and its time they
    were restuctured and made accountable or if they keep it up, the next protest
    will end up at their own door, as to the numbers today it was close to 100
    thousand and maybe more and not 15 or 20 thousand
    This is wake up call, we would do well to pay attention and its not going away.
    Has anyone out there video footage of the exit of the man from RTE…..?

          You describe two people, one carrying a camera, only able to “edge” their way through a crowd to get to a platform… yet they were able to “run away” through the crowd. Your language betrays you….. in fairness. Why

      Hey Truth In News! when the RTE pompous journalist barged his way to the front, he gained that position by pushing a child over in his haste to do so….Mebee that’s why he had to beat a hasty retreat….

        He could have as I did not see the child knocked over, he did beat a hasty retreat from a guy holding a piece of paper with comments about RTE….what was interesting was the change in his demeanor as he ran off…..the body language said it all, good to see that others confirm

      There were at least a hundred thousand million thousand there. And it’s not right to say that it’s all just a front for the Unions and a marketing excercise for subscriptions. It is however right to say that PBP/AAA and Sinn Fein will forever be in opposition. They’d sh*t themselves if they actually had to make good on their “promises” and had to come up with solutions rather than just pointing out problems.

    Proud to have been part of today’s march. Great to see the spirit of protest is still strong. Water is a right,especially when we have already paid for it in our taxes. Vat went from 21% to 23% specifically to pay for water + a % of motor tax allocated for same. It’s time to wake up and realise where the real wastage is, politicans pay, expenses and pensions. Let’s start there and expose all the real spongers in Irish life.

      In 1997 5% and 2% respectively went on Motor Tax and VAT… generating 1.2Billion min…
      what i want to know is….Where has that money been spent???
      cos it sure as hell hasn’t been on the water infrastructure
      maybe on the pensions of politicians or, on that little known fund that sitting TD’s can dip into without having to vouch for it….
