The Stone Roses have announced that one-time Dublin-based (and no strangers to the Grafton Street busking scene) Rodrigo y Gabriela – and SOAK – will be supporting them for their Marlay Park gig on July 9th. €75 though?

Anyone?

Feels out of touch or forced from lack of choices? There’s little cross-over appeal for Latino spanish guitar with metal influences and the Madchester scene. I feel sorry for fans of The Stone Roses who want to get in the mood earlier and equally sorry for Rod & Gab fans who’d love to see them but have no interest in seeing the Stone Roses after and paying €75 for the pleasure.

Lack of options doesn’t mean there’s not a threshold for scraping the barrel of ideas.

I’d say they’ll struggle with ticket sales.
Novelty factor of 2012 gigs is no more. They’re not a great live at either..Brown sounds like a shouty drunk doing karaoke

Didn’t a tribute act sell out The Olympia 10 years ago? Meanwhile my 22 year old colleague who sits next to me in work wants to go. They’ll sell plenty of tickets despite there being recorded footage of Ian Brown selling live. Also, Rodrigo y Gabriella?

Promoters have revealed that the 75 is optional in that if you dont want to go you dont have to go – its not mandatory

Yeah! Stone Roses fans can just go to a different Stone Roses gig that *doesn’t* cos…wait.

€25 is to see them perform; the other €50 is for a bond that they won’t play anything from their second album.

For feck sake! I saw that support for the New York gig and though, “nah, they won’t do that to us again after 2012.” But no, they’ve gone and done it.

I assuming this means they’ve sold loads of tickets, and that they don’t need to announce decent support to flog more?
