Broadsheet Trailer Park: Ben-Hur

What you may need to know:

1. Remakes. Remakes everywhere.

2.
To be fair, William Wyler’’s 1959 version with gun lovin’ Charlton Heston was a remake.

3. Lew Wallace’s novel had already been adapted for the screen in 1907 and 1925.

4. Morgan Freeman’s hair deserves its own movie.

5.
I presume that the chariot race will make the podrace sequence in Phantom Menace look tastefully restrained in comparison.

6. Broadsheet prognosis: Ben there, done that.

Release Date:
August 26.

    Christ….

Well I know what I’m doing on Sunday now, gonna watch the original Ben Hur. And get a bag of Emeralds.

  2. Slightly Bemused

Surely your last point should be ‘Ben there, Hur-d it all before’?

    I’ll get me coat…

  3. rotide

Ah, they’ve neatly sidestepped the gay subplot by making masala his brother.

    Charlton Heston will be delighted.
