Heads of state and their associates linked to the Panama papers release

The leak is being managed by the grandly but laughably named “International Consortium of Investigative Journalists”, which is funded and organised entirely by the USA’s Center for Public Integrity.

Their funders include Ford Foundation; Carnegie Endowment; Rockefeller Family Fund; W K Kellogg Foundation; Open Society Foundation (George Soros) among many others. Do not expect a genuine expose of western capitalism. The dirty secrets of western corporations will remain unpublished.

Expect hits at Russia, Iran and Syria and some tiny “balancing” western country like Iceland. A superannuated UK peer or two will be sacrificed – someone already with dementia.

The corporate media – the Guardian and BBC in the UK – have exclusive access to the database which you and I cannot see. They are protecting themselves from even seeing western corporations’ sensitive information by only looking at those documents which are brought up by specific searches such as UN sanctions busters.

      As far as I understand it the entire Cameron family family got up to some fairly dubious actions. The father left DC 300K (just under the limit to avoid inheritance tax), the rest was split between the rest of the family (his mother Mary and his brother and sister). The plan may well have been to give DC his share of hte loot after he’s been retired from public life for a few years. Funny how he personally called out Jimmy Carr on tax evasion when his immediate family seems to have been up to that very thing.

It’s not the likes of General Electric own NBC, Disney own ABC and Time Warner own CNN. The head of CNN did NOT publicly say last week that Donald Trump is doing wonders for CNN’s bank account.

            Bodger’s post suggests that the whole database is santised due to the fact it is only accessed by established media suggesting it is of little value (conspiracy again). So is it worth looking at or not?

            I would have thought it irresponsible, personally, to let any tom dick or harry access to the database as it requires some investigative journalism – peoples names are at stake and they have not necessarily committed a crime. Giving anyone access to this could result in massive defamation

      In the 1950’s the US Congress decided to investigate the activities of the US tax exempt foundations and appointed Norman Dodd as chief investigator of the so called Reese Committee… Dodd then got an interview with Rowan Gaither who was, at that time, president of the Ford Foundation. He explained to Dodd the purpose of the Ford foundation:

      “Mr. Dodd, we are here operate in response to similar directives, the substance of which is that we shall use our grant-making power so to alter life in the United States that it can be comfortably merged with the Soviet Union.”

      The committee also got access to the minute books of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace since it was founded where they found, amongst others things, records of meetings in the first decade of the 20th century which one of the investigators recorded on a dictaphone:

      “We are now at the year 1908, which was the year that the Carnegie Foundation began operations. In that year, the trustees, meeting for the first time, raised a specific question, which they discussed throughout the balance of the year in a very learned fashion. The question is: “Is there any means known more effective than war, assuming you wish to alter the life of an entire people?” And they conclude that no more effective means than war to that end is known to humanity. So then, in 1909, they raised the second question and discussed it, namely: “How do we involve the United States in a war?”

      All of which, I would say, is enough grounds to be suspicious of the bona fides of a global investigative journalism project funded by these foundations that dosn’t appear to have any American culprits.

      All of which, I would also say, is enough grounds for Harry to say that I’m a ‘thick’ conspiracy theorist, Norman Dodd was a ‘thick’ conspiracy theorist, the Reese Committee was a bunch of ‘thick’ conspiracy theorists, the US Congress was full of ‘thick’ conspiracy theorists, and, after all that, it is Harry – and how he feels about what the world is really like – that is, in fact, correct.

        I have no idea if you quote is correct.

        But even if it is, the fact that the Ford Foundation was at one stage rather left-leaning (and this is true) is irrelevant.

        A) It is no longer so left leaning. A cursory glance at the board of trustees would indicate otherwise – lots of senior business executives, corporate lawyers & interestingly Tim Berners Lee.

        B) This is only round 1. Let’s see if any American names begin to emerge.

      The reason there probably isn’t many Yanks in the list is because of the mildly horrific tax penalties that the US tend to dish out. Skipping on taxes is one of the few things the US won’t do. Even if done legally, being offshore doesn’t tend to offer as many benefits to US citizens given the global tax claim the IRS has on them anyway.

        In fact, its not that unlikely that Mossack Fonseca have deliberately chosen not to deal with US clients given the blowback that can occur if they were found to be aiding tax evasion etc.

    I take issue with the idea that something like this is of lesser significance or importance or relevance because it does not focus sufficiently on the US. That is in and of itself a ridiculously US-centric view of the world.
