In the band.

Not on the poster.

What gives?

Don Reilly writes:

Anyone know why Mark McKenna (Eamon – arrowed and playing ‘The Riddle of The Model’ here) is missing from the [Dublin-based, 1980s set musical comedy drama] Sing Street (2016) poster? Thought he deserved it as he has a prominent role in the film. I left a message on their Facebook page to no avail….

Anyone?

God love him, he does. He ruined What Richard Did for me. Like could be a lovely fella and all, but that accent goes through me.

I have similar feelings towards Conor O’Brien’s voice… though I like his music. It’s a tough one.

        Ah, first world problems.

I genuinely love Jack Reynor’s slightly over-the-top Southside accent.

‘Tis one of the two acceptable form of prejudice these days – travellers & Southsiders.

My tongue is slightly in my cheek but only barely.

He’s not technically a southsider. It is quite over the top (there are many southsiders without the comical accent), but in fairness to him, he can act.

I didn’t know anyone in the 80s/90s who liked the Cure AND Duran Duran. They were polar opposites. The Duran Duran fans wore the rolled up sleeve Miami Vice suits FFS and went on to become supermarket middle managers. While the Cure fans wore black and went on to be architects or lifelong dope smokers and now live in Dublin 7 doing arts jobs.

      Same here Tish.

I don’t think Duran Duran were taken anyway seriously until “Ordinary World” in the 90s.

I knew plenty who like both, some graduated from one to another (usually DD to The Cure) and some continued to listen to both.

Besides, I don’t think this film is really supposed to be a veracious documentary of 80’s musical history.

Surely you have more important things to be getting yourself upset about.

I do. Like people who never have sugar in their house.

looking over the store of my older sisters teenage art currently molding in my father’s attic, I ascertain that she was one of those who graduated from Duran Duran in her early teens to the Cure in her late teens.

Yea, I guess Mark McKenna = Don Reilly

I can see no other reason why anybody would genuinely want the answer to that question

I’ve written to my local councillor about this too. Still waiting to hear back. Will keep you posted.

I really liked this film. Best Irish film since Room. (A golden era of Irish film is upon us.)

One of the worst films I`ve ever seen, it was embarrassing. The last scene in the boat nearly pushed me over the edge!!!
