Alan kelly

Mr [Alan] Kelly was not present at Mr [Brendan] Howlin’s unveiling this afternoon.

“I am very disappointed Alan Kelly did not show up today,” Mr Howlin said. “I will be ringing him after this press conference.”

In an interview with News at One, the new leader said he had “no trouble” with Mr Kelly and he would be an “intrinsic part of the Labour Party”.

Jaysus, by the looks of that picture someone is going to be doing some ultra-violence today.

“Unveiling” – surely a small tea cosy would have been more than adequate?

Ha! Exactly. He’s still physically hurting from trying to pretend to be nice on the Late Late Show last week.

Labour are a joke & no longer represent the people. They are as bad as FG & FF

Kelly is self serving delusional power hungry moron.

Labour are a joke & no longer represent the people

      You are not ‘the people’.

I’m no fan of Labour but I’m less a fan of absolutism. Labour represent their (reduced number of) voters.

      1. Fergus the magic postman

Labour didn’t represent me or their other voters during their stint in government. They pretty much turned their backs on us.

Hence the reduced number of voters.

Oh and Alan Kelly, ha ha ha!

        @ahjaysis
you are correct of course in the technicals in what you say but maybe its just a comment Jimmy 2 Tones makes borne of pure utter frustration
for me Labour have evolved into just another middle-right club, certainly I don’t believe they offer any alternative and I know a lot of people myself included who feel very burned by them
Joan tried to pass off opening up soup kitchens like it was a good thing, need I say more.

I struggle with those ‘photo ops’ and the logic of them. Acknowledge the disgraceful need for, and support them, yes. but it sure was not the place for calling out the photographers for a pic….

      3. ollie

I have to agree with you on this one ahjaysis.
Those that voted for them in 2016 know exactly who they now represent.
I didn’t because I don’t want them to represent me any more.

Labour are the only responsible party of government on this island and the only true social democrats

      1. ALisonT

That is actually true and it is sad to see what happens when a party tries to do their best for the country.

    3. DubLoony

Who are “the people”? The way people carry on its like there was a landslide win with majority rule by Labour in 2011.

Fact is, most people voted for majority conservative party that time.
This time, it was an absolute mish mash of a result, reflected in the weird govt make up we have now.

  2. bisted

…I was really disappointed when Kelly got re-elected…today I feel a bit better.

  3. realPolithicks

I can’t stand Kelly at all, but this hardly seems like a democratic way to select a party leader. Seven people get to decide, what the hell has happened to the Labour party?

    1. bisted

…seems fair…it was about seven members of the party who benefited from the lure of power and pensions while betraying party colleagues and followers…

        This is my fave:

“Enjoy the withdrawal from your drug of choice you massive b*llocks!”

    1. rotide

The comments under it illustrate perfectly why twitter is such a regression in human achievement.

I’m neutral towards Kelly, but the toxic bile being vomited is par for the course for twitter. All noise, zero signal.

      1. DubLoony

The nastiness is necessary. Its impossible to have a political discussion online without it descending into name calling, personal attacks.

  4. Rob_G

What a childish, mean-spirited, petulant knob – the better candidate won, that’s for sure.

  5. Joe cool

Oh this is a great day. You can be guaranteed Kelly was waiting to rub it in as he knows we hate him. Everything he’s done to get the job has been in vain. Today we laugh at him. up yours kelly

all we need now is for AK47 to have a MAJOR hissyfit and jump ship…leaving Liebour with no speaking rights and Hobbit Howlin as leader of an erectile dysfunctionat partaay
ohhh Alan…. G’wan…. ya know ya wanta!

  7. Truth in the News

Kelly might jump ship but who will have him, who appointed the likes of him to
a Ministeral Position in the first place, all that Hobbit Howlin can do is gather up
the wreckage, the great party that once espoused the principles of James Connolly
have abandoned what they stood for and stand destroyed a 100 years to the day
    of 1916

    1. Keith

If you mean the overthrow of capitalism and its replacement, a socialist state, then I would of thought it was obvious they have not espoused those views for quiet a while. Long before the last government.

  8. 15 cents

i see niamh horan did a big “ah he’s sound, leave him alone” piece in the sindo. warning of bad writing came in the form of the front cover bi-line, in which it brazenly titled in bad english “alan kelly and me” instead of “and i” .. such .. such .. such a rag.
