Meanwhile, further to the documentary Mary Boyle: The Untold Story, written and directed by Gemma O’Doherty…
RTÉ reports:
A specialist garda unit is to take a fresh look into the disappearance of six-year-old Mary Boyle, who was last seen almost 40 years ago in Co Donegal.
The Serious Crime Review team will scrutinise the case from when Mary was first reported missing in March 1977.
If anything new is uncovered or warrants further investigation it will be followed up.

It was in The Star first this morning. Surprised that BS didnt cover it given the amount of coverage they have given to the case.
I don’t have much insight into this case, but you can almost hear the reluctance and disinterest in that RTE report.
The Gardai will “take a fresh look” sure and if anything turns up they’ll follow it up, sure.

Sergeant Sean: “Ted. Ted! Take a look through that for me will ya?”
*Slides a file across the room*
If anything “new” is uncovered? Is there not plenty already to go on that was ignored?
Why do I have very little faith in this?
This tragic case has been highlighted thanks to BS. Shame on RTE. As for “review” ….it has only occured because nearly 80,000 have watched u tube documentary by Gemma o Doherty. Well done to Donegal for their protest march for Mary next Saturday. Tears in heaven indeed.
Mary Boyle video pulled by YOUTUBE
The latest fad. Everyone must show unusual interest in 30-40 year old cold cases.
Oh you’re such an establishment lacky. Any querying of the Government or state institutions and you mock and laugh.
Pathetic.
I’d consider Kenny, with his 30-40 year in the Dail, as an extremely cold case.

just watched a bit of it now.
I’d like to spend a day with the ‘Not so Serious Crime Team’
Why, what you you do? You know nothing about that area of work.
That’d be the cops in charge of dealing with junkies and skangers wandering around dublin city robbing tourists and the like. Dont worry, they’ve great pensions.
‘Somehting new comes up’?
How about questioning the chief suspect!
“The Serious Crime Review Team….Who are….? will review the case
An outside body needs to be given Statutary Powers to investigate the Guards and the Political Hierarachy that frustated a proper investigation back in 1977.
Remember the “Carty Inquiry” and the late discovery of files in the O’Higgins
Inquiry ….they had nearly completed their work when they were found….this never hit the headlines in RTE…..in the meantime there needs to be clear out of the
top brass in the Guards, it seems that neither Fine Gael or their comely boys
and maidens supporters (FF) have the guts to take on the gang they put in charge
of policing….I wonder did Geraldine Feeley view the documentary on Mary Boyle.
