A Limerick A Day

When Melania stood up to to tell
Her story, it started off well
But many a word
Had been already heard
In a previous speech by Michelle.

Ya think Americans – Trump included – gives a hoot at what comes out of her mouth??!

Got her visa application reserved for hi-tech skilled labour… modelling is hi-tech now under Trump. Think of all the jobs, he’ll create….
Gid help them if he gets in

Awkward TV interviews, blatant gaffes, schoolboy plagiarism – now that’s the kind of toxicity that can render a candidate completely unelectable.

Even RTE felt safe enough to skirt editorial commentary in their reporting of the RNC this morning. I think they said this speech was similar to Michelle Obama’s and it turns out it was plagiarised. They said some of the speeches were borderline racist, so I shudder to imagine what they were like.

      They actually said borderline racist?

What a joke of a news operation. When people to refer to the population of the world that isn’t white as “sub-groups of humanity” that is racist.

But no, with RTE it’s always on the one hand, on the other hand. The Fox News school of “balance”.

It was shamefully coy, but bold for them considering how carefully they strive for a tone of terrified neutrality.

        1. ahjayzis

Neutrality’s charitable. It’s more an active defense / playing down / PR job for anyone who needs it.

It takes real drive, energy, ambition and the lack of anything resembling a gag reflex I imagine to bed down with that melted, orange, probably flatulent, mess every night. She’s an American Hero.

So it’s to be Trump or Hillary. Sort of reminds me of Ghostbusters. Choose the form of your destruction. Corrupt war mongering witch or reality TV clown?

Trump has just called for the re-instating of the Glass-Steagall act. The law that prevented the banks from going crazy with leverage and blowing bubbles and causing crashes etc. Wall St won’t like that. Bill Clinton abolished it and we ended up with the 2008 disaster as a direct result. So I guess Hillary won’t be planning to re-instate it. That’d be like pointing the finger of blame for 2008 at Bill. Now that’s a fundamental difference between both sides right there. As much as I hate both sides in this nonsense election at least the Republicans are planning to do this. It shows an understanding and desire to fix things and get Wall St in line. Paul Volker style.
When Obama called Volker to ask if he should bail out the banks (like JPM and Goldman), Volker told him to put a spear through the heart of these parasites (I think he even used those words). But they fell on Obamas massive, deaf ears. Obama got all his funds from Wall St so what did anyone expect? This Glass-Steagall stance from the Republicans is a good idea. In fact it’s essential.

Meh, for all her many faults they aren’t even remotely equivalent, unless you’re a Never Trump Republican, in which case, ouchie. Trumps policies seem to consist of whatever pops into his head at any given moment. Though your anti-Clinton points are well taken, if Trump goes after Wall Street it’ll be to skewer his rivals and competitors, and it will probably end up being catastrophic for the rest of us.

          +1

While Clinton is by no means perfect, I hate the false equivalence between the two.

Yeah, Trump is promising all sorts.. He’s a laughing stock to anyone with half a brain.

.Here he is on trade deals –
      http://www.msnbc.com/the-last-word/watch/donald-trump-s-incoherence-on-trade-715713603741

Donald Trump’s incoherence on trade :

“The most incoherent speaker in American politics said this today “–

“I’m all for free trade. The problem with free trade is you need smart people making deals. We don’t have good deals and free trade is killing us.

I want great deals. I don’t care if they’re free. I don’t care if they’re fair. I don’t care if they’re good. I don’t care if they’re horrendous. I just want great deals. I’ll do it all different ways. I’ll do it all different ways.

      Great stuff altogether..

If you actually believe this, then I have a really nice bridge you might be interested in buying.

This is consistent with Trumps campaign and methodology. Its completely fraudulant, with a total disregard for how to behave respectfully in the modern political world. He arranged this on purpose. He’s got his trophy wife getting applauded by racist Republicans for reading an African American Democrats speech!

    Trump is trolling modern life

  8. Mulder

This raises an ugly, akward point, Trump is something of a joke or taken as such, yet tens of millions of Americans are going to vote for him.
    What does that say.
    Press the panic button.
