He’s out. Six years he got for fiddling garlic as apples to a value of 1.6 mil. The DPP argued the sentence was justified and should stand but it was then reduced to two on appeal .

I wonder what the DPP’s opinion on these light sentences are?

While a young conman gets 2 years in prison for ripping of his friends 60,000 euro for Conor mcgregor tickets & a car & holiday, the bankers get the same time for billions & billions of euro fraud. This is Ireland.

wonder if they’ll be put in the mix with the ordinary dacent criminals or will they spend their time in the “training unit”

It’s hilarious watching people losing the rag over the Anglo guys but turning a blind eye to lads from poor backgrounds with 100s of convictions who get even lighter sentences.

While previous is always a consideration, so is the severity of the crime. Shop lifting €100 one hundred times is not the same as fraudulent deception of €7.2 bn.

      *** €7.2 BILLION ***

Most of us would be very interested in the DPP’s opinion on these sentences. Of course that won’t be made public unless they appeal. And they are sure as hell are not going to do that as an increase in their sentences is almost guaranteed.

They didn’t hurt anybody. Someone holding a syringe to your neck can really mess you up.

Suicides, evictions, homelessness, a generation emigrated… Don’t tell me there was no harm.
