Seriously.

Ireland’s eventing team rider Padraig McCarthy, from Tipperary, and his horse Simon Porloe fall during their cross country performance at the Rio Olympics this afternoon.

Both are reported to be “OK”.

I don’t think we should take a chance on this rotide. We should put it down…… you know, for its one good.

(*clasps hands, tilts head, compassionate concerning smile as I nod*)

It would be much better to see humans trotting along sideways and being thrown at waterjumps. I find the whole eventing thing a little bit crass.

I don’t agree with having animals as part of any Olympic Sport. The Olympics are to crown the best athletes in the world and if your on a horse, it’s the animal that’s technically doing the work so set up the Horse Olympics for that if ye want. Fencing and Rhythmnic Gymnastic can also feck off.

Why don’t you set up a Murtles Olympics with only the sports that you deem good enough to be included.

I’m sure 4 billion people will watch.

Challenge accepted and I’ll put back in the Rhythmnic Gymnastics but include 10 to 12 shots of Jack Daniels on the floor that must be consumed during the routine. 4 billion and one viewers guaranteed. :)

If I may suggest the inclusion of a hybrid sport of Rhythmnic Gymnastics, fencing and shooting.

Lads, can you send round an interoffice memo to get your tagging on point?

So far olympic stories have been tagged as : Olympics, Rio, Equestrian

But not all at once. Makes searching hard.

not even a little bit funny. poor horses. it’s a slaughterhouse for posh people’s glory

    1. Cup of tea anyone?

at least the Irish can eat something that they know wont give them the runs.

Unless the horse was full of drugs.

Paddy Barnes just beaten, not a good day at the office so far for Ireland

Annalise Murphy starts today though so there’s hope.

Saw a horse get revenge earlier when, after falling he promptly rolled on top of his rider. Yay for that horsey(all ok btw).
