Awful it see the natural landscape destroyed by weird ugly poorly designed religions buildings.
I definitely am anti-religious, but their buildings are usually quite amazing.
True that. Friend of mine reared and educated atheist loves nothing more than visiting churches
yep they had the money and passion to back Romanesque and Gothic…fell down in the 70s
oh God yeah, picture all those ugly 70s churches built in housing estate all over Ireland
Have you seen the church in Rouen over the Joan of Arc site… very Irish 70’s
I love some of those 70s churches.
Some of the few bits of actual contemporary design in post 60s Ireland.
Some of them are gak obviously but you’ll always have that…
Friend of mine went there after she lost her young daughter and found it amazing. I don’t care what it looks like if it helps people. And it’s not so bad, really.
It’s a fine spot and afaik anyone can stay or visit the cafe as they wish. No religious affiliation necessary.
Like most religious houses so….in that anyone can visit.
That has to be the most pathetic complaint ever. I imagine the poor sentence structure is a result of your own brain rebelling against typing such feeble drivel.
burn!
Needs more Yurt.
Dafuq? Our entire countryside is littered with hundreds of weird, ugly, poorly-designed religious buildings (some with weird, ugly people inside them).
Again, the religious buildings are some of the only decent bits of architecture across swathes of the country.
Instead the countryside is littered with sh!t one-off housing which is slowly turning the entire island into an ugly suburb
What exactly does this place do.
Meditation and cleansing the soul ‘n’ crap like that.
+ “mindfulness”
The Beara peninsula is one of the single most breath-giving places I’ve ever been. It’s glorious.
