This kind of activity is so counterproductive. It’s just preaching to the choir. You’ll never win over the moderates and undecideds you need by taking this approach. They would be better served by toning down their rhetoric and their embarrassingly extremist edge and simply putting the facts out there. Etc. etc. etc.

Starina, the Yank Defense yobs anti semitism seeps through the cracks when talking about Soros – one of them rich Jew types, y’know – they can barely hide the hatred.

      1. missred

There was a really nasty twitter account telling Ivana Bacik that she was “another Jew who wants to kill off white babies”.

          1. missred

If you click on the Dave Gorman twitter link below, it’s the same account called Durty Burd that is sending him pictures of aborted foetuses.

          2. missred

Since they themselves are linked to neo nazi groups, I would think: when they feel like it, they give them high praise – other times, they say whatever the fupp they have to appease financial backers in racist modern Europe

ugh capital punishment and abortion arent the same stop comparing them one is good (abortion) and one is bad (capital punishment) ugh I cant even right now

  3. zackersetu

Ah yea abortion on demand…. careful now, repeal the eighth and we will have an abortionist on every corner!

Again with Youth Defense’s (Or should we call them Iona Minor) signature move i.e we can’t win on the truth so let’s lie and twist everything – sure jeebus will forgive them as their intention is pure (bull***t that is) .

Ah sure look at them though… the youth wing of the Irish Catholic right taking a stand against the Nazi’s …. that makes a welcome change from the Catholic Church’s stance the 1st time around eh?

Chris Morris voiceover: She’s stroking her rounded belly now, sure. But repeal the 8th and that hand will turn into a bloody fist of demented knife-knuckles, destination: unborn!

  5. backomebollix

Strange then to see so few neo-Nazi slave owners at the repeal march last weekend. A bit of projection going on here by any chance/.

Haven’t enough swear words for this. At least not enough that would get through the censor. Lying, shameless, manipulative cvnts.

Hold on a fupping second here ok lets do some fupping facts repealing the 8th won’t legalise abortion on demand it won’t even legalise abortion. When the 8th amendment is repealed then the campaign for abortion legislation can begin but the 8th amendment also prevents mothers for making the decision on the best healthcare for them during their pregnancy and puts it in someone else’s hands, so the whole premise that this video is based on is absolute utter bo***x.

      1. Drogg

The prob is people on both sides believe repealing the 8th will bring abortion to Ireland but reaping the 8th is but a stepping stone.

“the whole premise that this video is based on is absolute utter bo***x.”

Of course it is! It’s Yank Defense! That shower wouldn’t know truth and honesty if it appearted to them at Knock!

      1. Drogg

But if they believe any of what they say in that video they are even dumber then i thought. They don’t even understand what they are fighting against.

  8. Bruce Wee

That is a shocking video….Slavery, Holocaust, Civil rights movement….How the FUP do they have anything to do directly or indirectly with the 8th amendment is a fupping massive stretch…that right there is some underhanded, misleading and repugnant sh*t….amazing they do it with a straight face

      1. Daisy Chainsaw

Youth Defence have now decided they want to kill babies with disabilities. They marched on Saturday for it.

    1. Caroline™

Good to see some joy and positivity. It can’t be Holocausts, slavery and foetal entrails ALL the time.

So you think it’s fine? You know, there’s a point at which your cool anti SJW stance makes you look like an actual tool.

      1. Lorcan Nagle

By the actual definition of the term, complaining about so-called SJWs on the internet while not doing anything in real life is actually the most SJW thing anyone can do

    1. Starina

raving lunatics. dangerous. if the 8th is repealed they’ll be outside all the maternity hospitals getting in women’s faces.

      1. Lorcan Nagle

There’s a lot of people involved in the Repeal movement now who are fully prepared to escort vulnerable women across protest lines like happens in the US if necessary.

    1. Daisy Chainsaw

Youth Defence, Iona, Prolife Campaign – they’re the same handful of nasty anti choice zealots all incestuously interbreeding with each other.

  9. newsjustin

Youth Defence are a handy bogey man for pro-choice people. Easier to criticise them rather than think about abortion.

    1. DeSelby

Whose fault is that? Themselves and the Iona “Institute” portray themselves as the voice of the pro-life lobby. They are carted out for balance anytime abortion is mentioned. If there are more reasonable voices, it’s up to the pro-life campaign to produce some sane and honest represtatives. There’s no need to blame the pro-choice for the (in)sanity of your sides representatives.

      1. newsjustin

There are a variety of voices on the pro-life side of this issue, just as there’s a variety of voices on the pro-choice side. That’s no big deal. There’s no onus on anyone on either “side” to present any voice other than their own.

Iona (not YD it seems) get asked on rte, etc because they’ll turn up.

        1. DeSelby

It very much is the responsibility of the pro-life side to put their best foot forward if they want to win. Currently their public representatives are religious zealots and general nutbags. These people use deceit and dogma to argue against science, compassion and logic. Until there are better spokespeople that can argue the pro-life case more honestly and sanely, your side will continue to haemorrhage support. Youth Defence and to a lesser extent the Iona Institute are a gift to the pro-choice side as they are complete nutters.

          1. newsjustin

You suggest that some pro-life people are arguing against science, compassion and logic. As if there is a consensus on these matters.

Is it good science to believe that an unborn foetus is not a human and can be destroyed?

Is it compassionate to abort an unborn child because of financial concerns or because of who it’s father is?

Is it logical to fight to save very premature babies who are clinging to life whilst also believing that aborting foetuses of a similar age is OK because one is “wanted” and the other isn’t?

        2. Daisy Chainsaw

The “variety of voices” are the same handful of people, all cross pollenating with each other’s organisations. For example; Niamh Ui Bhriain of Life “Institute” is Niamh Mac Mathuna of Yob Defense. The antis create a new organisation to make it look like there’s a huge groundswell, but modern media shows them up to just be the same small few headbangers under a different banner.

          1. DeSelby

That’s pure whataboutery.I think what is more important is the amount of support the pro-choice groups are getting.

          2. Daisy Chainsaw

Parents for Choice wouldn’t share too many members with Student’s for Choice. Midwives for Choice would have a different membership to Doctors for Choice etc etc.

Iona/Life “Institutes”, Prolife Campaign, Youth Defence share a lot of members/leaders/spokespeople. It’s like the Marriage Equality referendum last year. All these anti equality groups popping up, but populated by the same small handful each time.
