Great place to visit. I think the price is almost worth it. A lot better than I was expecting.
Its like paying to watch ads for a couple of hours. Some people like that. Guinness closed down the brewery in kilkenny where up until recently you could actually do a brewery tour and see how beer is made. the storehouse has no real connection with the brewery in which it is located.
I actually visited with my two daughters in June when we were in Dublin. Its actually quite an interesting place to visit, but its vastly overpriced. The admission fee is 20 euro which is nuts, 5 euro would be a reasonable fee.
I saw a large ad in dublin airport yesterday, ‘Guinness Storehouse, Europe’s leading tourist attraction ‘
Really? The gravity bar is decent but the rest is lame.
And as for the pyramids…don’t get me started: piles of rubble.
It is a damning indictment of this nation that the most popular tourist attraction is a brewery. A national embarrassment.
Could be worse – could be a 12 inch statue of a toddler pissing in a fountain.
There’s a nice straw man there, is that you Diageo?
Or killing fields
Got to say, These are some absolutely insane red-herrings you guys are throwing out.
No worse than Heineken in the top 5 attractions of Amsterdam…. http://www.dutchdailynews.com/heineken-experience-receives-record-number-of-visitors-in-2011/
I hope you don’t feel embarrassed anymore :)
Amsterdam has feck all to do as a city other than getting rubbered. Thats a poor comparison
@Jusayinlike the people of ireland are being screwed by the government daily…
Thanks dav ill made a note of that pearl
I’m adequately embarrassed by the Heineken Brewery also. And, I am still embarrassed about that foreign owned brewery being the top tourist attraction in this state, regardless.
Why are you embarrassed about what tourists do when they visit Dublin? Are you embarrassed for them or yourself? I don’t understand
Pretty sure Trinity college is Ireland’s top attraction by visitor numbers but as it is not a paid attraction they don’t count it.
They do count attendance in non fee paying attractions, and the top non fee paying attraction is the national museum of Ireland and the attendance there is roughly 50% of the storehouse annually.
Des Bishop’s doc on the Irish relationship with alcohol ass culture identity is rather on the money
as.. as. My phone likes ass
Des has been living here since Charlie Haughey was Taoiseach, you’d think he’d be over his constant amazement at all things Irish by now.
true that but ah sure he has to earn a crust, and he has a point about the drink
Fair enough.
Pint?
ah go on
We’ve come a long way since 1866
The area around it is a bit of a kip. You’d think Guinness would pay for some upkeep
Or a cull.
