In Derry some reckon The Sun
Is a newspaper people should shun
So they’re writing to shops
Saying don’t sell red tops
It’s not censorship, just good clean fun.

We established it wasn’t censorship yesterday. Do we really need another article on this ridiculous non-story relating to something that’s 27 years too late?
Clearly.
We’ll be back again in ten years when The Express admits it was the bears all along…
27 years too late? Liverpool still boycotts the Sun today. Did anyone mention in yesterday’s thread that the inquest verdict came earlier *this* year?
well hang on – you can’t have it both ways… If it’s acceptable (and I think it is) that Liverpool has boycotted The Sun for 27 years, then the date of the inquest verdict coming in is irrelevant.
If, on the other hand, it’s only acceptable to boycott in the wake of the inquest verdict coming in, then the folk of Liverpool (by that reckoning) should have waited 27 years. (IMHO they shouldn’t.)
In other words, and any Murdoch organ boycott is grand by me, it’s more that this ain’t really ‘news’ as such. In the same way that if there was a news story about kids in England going mad for the music of 4 lovable moptops, and whilst you can’t deny the music is catchy, it’s just that, well, in the words of George Harrison at the end of THAT episode of The Simpsons…”it’s been done”
“well hang on – you can’t have it both ways…”
I’m not having it any way. I’m merely pointing out that whichever way you look at it, this *isn’t* 27 years too late. It didn’t vome out of nowhere because it happened this year. Even if it didn’t, Liverpool still boycotts the paper today so it”s still an appropriate action to take today. I guess I’m a bit miffed that people are actually complaining over an act of human solidarity because of something so trivial like time. Maybe folks could ask affected Scousers if they think this is too late?
How many people need to boycott this rag before it becomes unviable?
The sun is maybe the most read paper in the UK sadly, so a lot.
