Oliver St John Gogarty drank with ordinary guys.
One of the lads was an electrician called Joe.
Joe died when he fell off a roof working on Dublins first neon sign, an ad for Oxo.
Gogarty wrote (very quickly) a eulogy for Joe :
“We mourn the death of electrician Joe,
who fell to his death through the O in Oxo.
We know no finer, we knew no better.
But he went, as he came through a hole in a ‘letter’.”
