As was drilled into us in geog class – Carlow, Mallow, Tuam and Thurles.
As well as biscuits, textiles, boots, shoes and light engineering for pretty much every
large town.

Little known (i.e. widely known) fact: Siúcra Sugar in the Free State & McKinney’s Sugar in the 6 Counties are one & the same. Both produced in the same refinery & put into separate packaging so as not to offend certain communities north of the border.
The responsibility for the demise of Irish Sugar lies with that notable former
Minister of Agriculture Mary Coughlan, the Siucra Trade brand was sold off
we also need to see who had influence and control in Greencore at the time
of the wipe out of this strategic industry and their political connections
