‘sup?

A&E consultant and Totally Sound Bloke Dr. Fergal Hickey was on [RTÉ Radio One’s] Morning Ireland today about this (‘up to 350 people will die needlessly’ if things do not improve in the Irish health service over the next year)….I went off and drew 350 people just to see what that might look like.

oh look, there’s me, in the middle, having lost my religion.
blushirts would see this as a way of reducing the waiting lists…
i will be one of those people.
i went for a colonoscopy in december 2015. i didn’t hear from the hospital, but within three weeks i received letters from debt collectors for my hospital bill, even though i never got on. i paid it, and didn’t get my results. i presumed they were fine otherwise they would’ve contacted me. My health deteriorated and the doctor wouldn’t see me until i got my results, the hospital would tell me they sent them, the doctors receptionist would say they didnt, and would hang up on me. While they were all trying to avoid doing the slightest bit of work, my health got worse again. My new doctor has given me until june/july to live. I would probably have lived til 80+ if they had given me my results when they got them first. the main thing i cannot get over, is that each pair of hands on my results saw what was on it, but shifted it off to someone else, or to nowhere, without a thought that a mans life was at stake.
Jesus, that’s terrible. Sorry to hear that.
That’s horrendous!
Very sorry to hear that.
I’m so sorry to hear that. I wish you the best, 15p
“sorry to hear that” is more than i got from the number of people involved in sleep walking thru their jobs leading to my death. i never wrote it down before. my death.
jaysus 15p that’s shocking, hopefully you get through it..
awful and disgraceful
wish you all the best, 15p
15p it has taken me a long while after reading your post to come to grips with the enormity of the injustice visited upon you. I haven’t the words to express the sorrow and anger I feel after reading it. Don’t go gently….. make an absolute show of these heartless b*stards.
that’s just horrible. i am so sorry to hear it.
Just how much medical incompetence goes unchallenged? – I’m so sorry to hear your news – bloody shocking…
Unreal
Bodger can you please do a story about 15p – assuming he wants to go on the record?
I’d love to say that it’s unusual, but sadly it’s not. A close relative paid their own limited money to see a consultant privately in Dublin. When they arrived the consultant had obviously not read the notes from the GP and sent my relative off with reassurances that nothing was wrong.
About six months later surgery was required to remove thankfully benign polyps.
Good luck.15p
Dr. Fergal Hickey is a very good guy when it comes to outlining the problem but doesn’t have many solutions. I have a lot of respect for him but you cannot address the problem while ignoring that a large part of it is the power of the consultants and their financial demands. I would like to hear if he thinks the best way to spend €700,000,000 in the health service is to give back pay to consultants who didn’t like the cutbacks the rest of the public service suffered. This is the reality of the recent consultants claim.
and there is the back handed compliment brought to you by a blushirt/hse shill
Surely a blueshirt shill would be advocating for consultants to be paid more
You need to re-calibrate your radar
A health service based, just like the property ‘market’, entirely on the needs of overly powerful vested interests profiteering on the culture of barbaric mismanagement, real law of the jungle stuff there..
Only looks like about 15 water protesters to me…wink wink
this may be well meaning but bigoted racists will use these facts to argue that we cannot pile thousands of economic migrants on top of our already creaking health, education and welfare systems.
Jimmy two shots ahead as per usual..
Maybe we should hire all the doctors trained in Cuba who have worked for buttons for generations in the world’s poorest countries, generously, uncomplainingly and patriotically?
He was economical with facts about the casualty rate at Sligo Regional Hospital, how many of
the 350 were from the Sligo Hospital……..?
15p.
I am truly shocked to read about such incompetence. I wish you all the best. Try to make the most of your time ahead in whatever way makes you happiest.
