Beyond disgusting. The little moral authority the RCC could claim to have is completely gone. It’s absolutely outrageous that these people have to be listened to in the Citizen’s Assembley. They should be removed from it, and their patronage to schools should also be forcibly revoked.

It’s repulsive to think that they have any say in the future of Irish children, given the carnage they left behind in the past.

They still owe compensation. The state should start confiscating schools as payment.

        Also: FUPP Michael Woods

Kieran, is that really you? Have I misjudged you all this time? Come to my arms and I shall feed you tiny, delicious pastries and sweet Madeira. :-D

          1. Sheik Yahbouti

Zena, don’t get scared. The young folk tell me this is “bantz”, whatever that is.

          2. Sheik Yahbouti

I’m in Dublin (all my life), but I, or a more suitable member of my family, will entertain you! Bear in mind that we are, to a man and woman, tall, slender, dark haired and blue eyed. Thus it has been for countless generations. :-D

          3. Kieran NYC

            Sorry! Mistook you for realPolithicks!

Deeply apologize! Back in Dublin in May though. If any of your kin end up in the George I’ll regale them with boring tales of jetlag ;) haha

Have a good weekend, Mr Yahbouti!

          4. Sheik Yahbouti

Quick thumbnail – I’m a boring old fart ‘loony lefty ‘ Social Justice Warrior etc.,(who is often “offensive”) – Kieran is, shall we say, none of those things. Which is why his remark surprised me. :-)

          5. Kieran NYC

Ah, sure. I often disagree with ya. And I think you should take a step back from constant negativity. Ireland isn’t as bad as you think.

            But you’re a good aul skin. :)

          6. Zena

We all have times when comments rub us up the wrong way and if we’re having an off day, we bite. Ive done it good few times. We’re all only human.

      2. sǝɯǝɯʇɐpɐq

i hope none of you take this the wrong way.
        – the last thing i want to express is any form of disrepect towards anyone involved.

it was just that rté news report, where the ‘historian’ who brought this out into the open…
        … i forget her name…
… and she said she hoped it brought solace to the families of those who were robbed of their lives… This allowS them to give their lost-ones the proper holy catholic burial they deserved…
A BIT OF RESPECT TOWARDS THE HOLY PERPETRATORS, SO TO SPEAK.
BACK IN THE BOSOM OF THE BARBARIANS, AND GRACIOUSLY…

There’s something very, very wrong with that way of thinking….

        JUST SAYIN’
i don’t care who you are or what you think. BOLLICKS IS BOLLIX

It’s funny how people who are so against the church and what they see as the worst traits of the church – oppression, authoritarianism, silencing opposing views, etc – are so keen to ape them and deploy those same traits.

        1. DeSelby

What sort of doublepeak is that? straight out of the alt-right playbook. As if the RCC are being victimised by my comment.

Do you really think the Bishops have more right to speak than TMFR?

The church in Ireland has had its say, and been given preferential treatment for too long.

they have been the scourge of this country and quite the opposite of the teachings of Christ.

          1. ReproBertie

The “fake news” link goes to a Catholic mouthpiece playing semantics with the report. The piece argues that since the report doesn’t say mass grave therefore the significant quantities of human remains found doesn’t mean it was a mass grave. There is no denial in the piece, just an attempt to play it down an portray the media coverage of the reports as the latest attack on the poor RCC.

When someone suffers from cancer, you cut it out and the body heals. The catholic church is a cancerous lump that needs to be excised from the country for good.

How many fat faced nuns died from malnutritions?

  1. seekingsusan

Will the apology from Rosita Boland and Conor Goodman be in Monday’s Irish Times ? The apology to Catherine Corless.

  2. objective

When the Pope visits next year, I hope they don’t arrange for him to visit Clonmacnoise or Knock or the North. I hope the Tuam Septic Tank is where he will go on pilgrimage to in atonement. They were Catholic nuns, the women brought there by Catholic priests in the main and the house ran with the imprimatur of the Catholic bishop. Pope Francis should kneel at that site and beg forgiveness not only from God but from the Irish people. Furthermore, I hope he’s not brought to knock, which is in that diocese, and not brought to the Tuam Septic Tank.

    1. Twunt

They should bring him to Letterfrack too, many children in a mass grave. I don’t doubt there are more locations like these.

    2. Frilly Keane

      Kneel my hole
He needs to remove those bodies
      With his bare hands
      Wash them
      Cry for them
      Trace their families
      And stand beside them
      Grovelling and simpering
As they take care of their final journey

Those nuns need to be charged
And their hospitals and facilities seized by CAB

Perry Trone needs to be scalded
      And sued into Bankruptcy
      Alongside that Savage

      So?

      Come and get me
Let’s see how cocky your So? is now you evil grubby hungry knacker

  3. GiggidyGoo

Not much of a difference between Islamic State and Catholic State is there? Mass graves and all that.

    1. Rob_G

Bad as the Catholic Church was/is, they don’t throw men suspected of being gay off the top of tall buildings

      1. Sam

        (anymore)

No, the power and arrogance of Catholic Church is thankfully in decline, but it’s still fairly deeply attached into the power structures of a supposed democracy.
Back when it was at it’s height it was a terrorist entity in the original sense of the word.

  4. bisted

…nothing exemplifies the attitude of the catholic church more than their recent beatification of Teresa of Calcutta…here was a nun surrounded by controversy…there was prima facie evidence that she subjected poor people to horrible suffering while at the same time accumulating obscene riches…that she was able to make a virtue of this is abetted by anyone who can ignore her real legacy…

  5. And Social Justice For All

    Hey kiddos…
I’m currently in Doyle’s Pub on College Green. I used to DJ in here, but that was a long time ago.
I once brought Mark E Smith from The Fall in here for a drink. That was a long time ago too.
It’s all changed now…they have Wi-Fi and everything.

    But I digress…
If any of you want to call in and have sex with me I’m the mad looking bloke with a lot of empty tables around me. wearing a black hoodie with ‘Bass Culture’ written on it in blue, drinking Guinness.
I have a laptop in front me.
    I’m the really good-looking one.

    Knock in. Let’s have sex.

    1. sǝɯǝɯʇɐpɐq

      PS.
Two very young lesbians told me last night that I don’t look a day over 35.
‘I’ll be 56 in September’, I said to them.
‘No way’ they said to me.
‘Yes way’ I said to them.

Hang on…. Me dinner just arrived.
      I’ll be back later.

Hurry up if you want sex.
      First come first served…etc….

      1. sǝɯǝɯʇɐpɐq

        Ha ha me bollix…
You think I’m messing, don’t you?

        I’m not messing.
I came in here because I was getting followed around town by two plain-clothes Gardaí. I’m not fecking stupid… I know they aren’t allowed to go to the pub with a written note from their boss.
I was looking at them, hanging around outside. Waiting.
-Then it started raining again. They left.

It’s after getting mad busy in here all of a sudden.
There’s a Man U match on the telly. Maybe it’s that.
        – Why is everyone looking at me? I should stop singing UB40 songs, shouldn’t I?

‘Red, red whiii-iii-iine…stay close to me-ee-ee-eeeeee…
        Da – dah- dah wheee-ee…
        Eh
        My duh – duh deeahh…
        Red, red whiii-iii-iine..

Oh man, I love Reggae so much. I am it’s biggest fan. Bob Mantley… UB44… Tooths and the Mayflies… Desmond & the Black ‘n’ Deckers… I love them all.
There was another bloke… I can’t remember his name. Scooby Rinks or something like that.
Ask me any question about the Reggaes. I know it all.

    Hey Social… Get this…
Apparently you aren’t allowed to watch porn on your laptop in a pub in the afternoon???
One rule for those who like looking at men in short trousers, new rules for the rest of us.
It’s all a load of bullocks.

    1. Drunkerthaniwasearlieronatmemes

That would be an excreMENTAL matter.

(But hey… fair play to the Shinners. I’vs never been so fupping proud of them in my life. Eirigh suas.
      Today is a good day.)

  9. Drunkatmemes

Man U are getting F’ed by Bournemouth on the telly, but I get told to keep the volume down and my hands above the table.
No disrespect, but Social Justice me hole!

I’m old fashioned. I like nipping into the pub for a sly one, every now and again.

    When did it all change?

  10. kid jensen

I see Alison ‘i bring my kids to funerals while on jobs’ has made the front page of the mail. all is forgiven.

  11. Drunkerthaniwasearlieronatmemes

I know this sounds ‘made-up’. Trust me. If I was making up stuff it wouldn’t be this boring…
There’s a bunch of ‘Girly’ girls sitting at the table beside me. Yappy types. You know the sort… Nothing to say, so they talk loud to feel important. There’s 5 of them, and one poor gay bloke who seems way out of his depth. He doesn’t want to be here.
Over on the other side I have a bunch of beardy..
    Beardy…

    Eh, gentlemen.
    Blokes.
    Beardy blokes.
-They talk a lot of nothing, but they never shut up. Telling each other stories about people nobody cares about or knows.

When did it all become like this?

I used to be the DJ in here on Saturday nights.
I got sacked for being ahead of the game, for playing Wu Tang 20yrs ago.
10yrs behind the rest of the planet, too early for this place.

    I say ‘Wu Tang’…
It was actually ODB, but I was a bit wreckless back then.
    I’ve improved.
    I’m much more wreckless nowadays.

Get in the queue…Lick my Swiss…
    Roll it there Collette…

      1. And Social Justice For All

Completely agree but he’s been at it now for a while. He posts at night and at odd hours when moderators are asleep
