Tonight.

The Late Late Show on RTÉ One.

Damian Mac Con Uladh writes:

A standing ovation for fearless and tireless researcher Catherine Corless…

Fintan Dunne writes:

“Ahead of  last night’s  show, I spent yesterday in Catherine’s company with Kathy McMahon of Irish First Mothers as Catherine’s husband Aidan plied us with coffee and biscuits.

Catherine’s demeanour then was just as relaxed, but with the inherent strain of it all visible on her face.

Tonight, as she turned to face the deep acclaim, her features lit up like the clear light she represents.

The people have ssued a verdict.

The existing secretive and minimalist Commission of Investigation just slid into the deep on an ebbing tide…

In fairness.

    She’s fearless, she’s tireless, she’s CORLESS.

Amy Huberman stars in this new RTE 3 part drama. Episode 1: “Nuns on the Run”

    You better prey…for your lives!

At a time when it is difficult to be Irish over Tuam; Catherine Corless restores some sense of pride and hope. She should be honoured by the people; not the state and their agents. What a superb example of continuing to do what you know to be right on the behalf of others. A really great, inspiring woman.

    1. Jocky

It is difficult to be Irish?
If you’re soft in the head maybe. What a ridiculous thing to say.

I’m usually no Turbridy fan but he made a little speech about how the government are still failing to look after the most vulnerable in our society. I thought it was really well said from him.

Delighted to see Catherine getting the kudos she deserves too..in particular after having the likes of Terry Prune face and others who tried to discredit her.

    1. anne

      I’m Anne dear.
Yes as I said I’m usually no fan..I was impressed with what he said last night.

    2. GiggidyGoo

There still had to be the rub of advertising Prone during the break. Nothing is ever straight with RTE. Weren’t there massive changes with the new chairperson coming on board last year? Not! Another non-entity appointment.

      1. anne

Prime time investigates has been pretty good lately. They’re mostly for the birds, particularly the evening news..but they put out some good stuff now and then IMO.

        1. GiggidyGoo

The BOC show is a sitting down, audience participating (clapping) show. I don’t know of how to get tickets, or of anyone that got them. A lot of these talky shows have a planted audience. Prone arranged her appearance quite quickly. Now let’s see who is in the audience. Will Rosita Boland and yer man Ferriter be there?
The BOC show isn’t a Prime Time type of program. Prone’ email http://www.thejournal.ie/terry-prone-email-tuam-babies-site-1721252-Oct2014/
(2014), written while she was in the employ and advisory capacity of the nuns tells its own story. This BOC show will be full of ‘well that wasn’t my point of view – I was instructed to write that’ despite the fact that Prones business is advising exactly what to say.
          She’s a disgrace.

This woman deserves some proper form of recognition. Delighted she got a standing ovation. She needs some form of State accolade. At the very least she needs to be reimbursed the €4000 she spent paying the State €4 per death cert.

If the President isn’t too busy globe trotting he might call down to Corless’ kitchen for cup of tea and thank her on behalf of the people of Ireland.

    1. Andy

      +1

On top of reimbursing her for her costs she should get a research grant or bonus or something.

  5. Brother Barnabas

lovely response from the audience – especially when you consider that a LLS audience would more than likely be fairly traditional and conservative

There is a cloud living in the space above my wardrobe. His name is Ainsley apparently.

Doesn’t like being outside. Prefers to be someplace warm, he said. I gave him a blanket and there he’s been ever since.

            We’re pals now.

  6. Phelem Mooney

To all the REPEAL jumper wearers, let it be known that Tuam had its own abortion clinic.

      1. Sheik Yahbouti

So phlegm and you (or just you if you are in fact one person) know something about some “abortion clinic”. We should care, why?

  7. petey

don’t know that show but i’m happy to see corless get appreciation after the sniping she’s been taking.

    1. And Social Justice For All

You do know she’s a feminist right?

Stop pretending you are right on you sap

      1. Clampers Outside!

The last thing I want to be is some PC regurgitating, toe-the-line, roll with it, automaton, muppet like you striving to be or say whatever it is that is “right on” today, the next day or after.

        “Right on” pffffft!
Keep your pathetic ‘social justice’ and your PC right on ideologically informed nonsense…. LOL! No thanks pet.

          1. Clampers Outside!

            LOL!
Did you get triggered or something… ” impressive number of alt-right catchphrases”…. sorry what now :)

Please point out this “impressive number” in a list…. oh wait, you were just spouting nonsense and accusation in your standard stir it up with lies and accusation tactic.

Kinda funny in fairness, but ultimately sad seeing the level of your self delusion.
You’re like one of those Hillary-bots shouting Nazi and alt-right at every turn Star :)

          2. MoyestWithExcitement

Clamps, remember saying that you were able to realise your opinions on travellers were just feelings that were influenced by being mugged by someone from that community? Try remembering that guy. The current Clamps is a reactionary, overly emotional loon who just spouts right wing slogans and offers zero in the way of substantive thought.

          3. Clampers Outside!

” who just spouts right wing slogans ”

If that’s all that I do, as you have asserted.

Please, out of ALL my comments anywhere on this site from any time…. please, evidence just ONE right wing slogan I have posted.

Just ONE. I only have to have said it once. I only want ONE slogan that I have spouted…..

            sorry… what’s that…

            *tumbleweed*

          4. MoyestWithExcitement

“the multicultural experiment blowing up, literally, in their faces”

“Keep your pathetic ‘social justice’ and your PC right on ideologically informed nonsense”

“Did you get triggered or something…”

“You’re like one of those Hillary-bots”

          5. Clampers Outside!

@Moyest – Jaysus! You really are plucking at straws… and they all came up short.. Hah!

Those are not alt-right slogans or catchphrases you self deluded simpleton… >_<

If those are supposedly catchphrases (MEGA LOLS) and not to be used in any discussion then there is no discussion. You are just looking for a "safe space" to conduct your echo chamber conversation safe from ideas that you don't like.

Fupp that for a game of stupid is as stupid does ! Speech policing by the fupping regressive left wing loola brigade!!

            * throws hands ion the air and shouts "protect me from the words and the ideas I don't like, police everything, waaaaaahhhh! " in a mocking fashion *

          6. MoyestWithExcitement

“You are just looking for a “safe space””

            “echo chamber”

            “Speech policing”

            “regressive left”

“protect me from the words and the ideas I don’t like, police everything, waaaaaahhhh! “”

          7. MoyestWithExcitement

            “you self deluded simpleton…”

Aren’t you always trying to lecture people from your high horse when you think someone has thrown an insult? ‘Something something assert something something you’re emotional something something’

          8. Clampers Outside!

Moyest attempting to class all these as alt-right phrases…. LOL!

Although in fairness, he/she is just following the collective group think, doing their part for the regressive lefts push for anti-free speech and pro-censorship by labeling these words as ‘alt-right’ or something.

Heck, the like of Moyest give out when someone links to a conservative website, they are that willing to willfully shield themselves from ‘ideas’ or words that are not from the left. The measure of a complete regressive moron is when that fool starts shutting down ideas they don’t like. Just because they dont like them.

Go Moyest ! Blinkered all the way and willfully so.

          9. Clampers Outside!

” Aren’t you always trying to lecture people from your high horse when you think someone has thrown an insult? ”

Yep. I should also be allowed to defend myself, and to trade back insults as doled out to me by you. Simple.

            Anything else?

          10. Clampers Outside!

As in… “yep, I respond to the insult” – the high horse bit is assumed by the other commenter, presumably because they have no other argument to make, but it may be they have no other reason. Who knows…. who the fupp cares.

          11. MoyestWithExcitement

            “collective group think,”

            “regressive lefts push”

            “anti-free speech”

            “pro-censorship”

“willfully shield themselves from ‘ideas’ or words that are not from the left.”

It’s like talking to an automated answering machine. ‘Press 1 to be called a cuck. Press 2 to be told you’re anti free speech. Press 3 for all the latest news about Japanese cartoon women we definitely pull the plumb off ourselves to’

Hmm, early in the week, but: BINGO!

          1. MoyestWithExcitement

You’re whining about being accused of alt right slogans and your response is to tell people they’re “triggered”. Ok then.

          2. Nigel

Clamps you just helped me win a kale and quinoa smoothie, a face-pack made from five blended varieties of unicorn manure, and a free course of homeopathy for my manflu. Don’t be bitter.

          3. Nigel

….and this is the point where I feel like I’ve been picking on someone smaller than me..

          4. This monkey's gone to heaven

Well isn’t that what people have been pointing out to you for weeks now Nigel?

          5. Nigel

Obviously I couldn’t hear you through the homeopathic unicorn manure and kale smoothie face-pack the shaman prescribed for my manflu.

  8. guy bague

Terry Prone? Where is Rosita Boland? Oh right off spending Arts Council money on drivel. Helps with the denial.

  9. Drebbin

Hey Clampers, I’m not taking sides. I just have a question. Last time I hung around here, you were universally viewed as a good egg, with funny quips and decent arguments. Now you are seen by a lot of the regulars as a (possibly troubled) MRA-ish alt-right-style obsessive who deals largely in insults and sloganeering.

Do you think they’ve changed or you? How would you explain the shift?

    1. MoyestWithExcitement

We’ve been too busy worying about radicalised Muslims to notice the radicalisation of white men in western Europe. Clampers is a great illustration of it. It has been genuinely interesting watching someone’s behaviour and general attitude change so dramatically over such a short space of time. He’s a fully fledged angry ideologue now.

      1. This monkey's gone to heaven

        Excellent point.

But like young men who become radicalised I do think that certain personality traits are how you say, more indicative of a tendency towards alt-righ radicalisation too.
