Páraic Gallagher, of Newstalk, tweetz:
Fianna Fáil’s Jim O’Callaghan says the answers for these Garda scandals have not been given and want answers from Tanaiste… The party says it’ll consider options after hearing from Tanaiste today and Commissioner attends committee on Thursday.
Meanwhile…

Leaders’ Questions begin at 2pm and can be watched live here
Previously: Clarifying Matters
If criminal scum in this country can have infinite previous convictions, then why not the Gardai?
Also, the absolute state of the institutions in this country run by women, post me 1 that isn’t in crisis right now.
Why can’t they all be as good as the church, the HSE, An Post and Bus Eireann, eh? Good, penis-lead institutions that’ve stood us in good stead.
He had a little point though – Bon Secours, Rehab, anything Terry Probe goes near, NI government, Gardai …
Youth Defence, Iona Institute, Renua …
The PDs, RTE, Social Democrats
I don’t think The Crone qualifies as human though, to be fair.
I’m hoping it’s irony Ahjayzis
And the lesson is, if you sack someone, don’t immediately replace them with their henchman.
100%
Like that lesson needed learning!
I agree, Ah. Meanwhile, the spectacle of Fianna Fail and Labour taking the moral high ground leaves me feeling very queasy indeed. The nerve of these scrotes.
+1 Sheik
Politics is repetitive and very wearing. Leaves a person feeling somewhat grubby, and not in the fun way.
Would you two please stop the sexy talk
Making the rest of us uncomfortable
Let’s not be hasty here….
“Gonna get a little duurrrtty, gonna get a little duurrttty!
I was talking about gardening. Get your mind out of the sewer!
Both parties that appointed the henchmen of their failed outgoing leaders ;)
+1
unless of course it was an inside job from the start…..that would be more like keep up the good work Noirin ;) ;)
that scene of her on Callinans shoulder whispering and nudging at him during that “disgusting” outburst will always stick with me….hard to know who’s the dog and who’s the tail innit
I can’t trust anyone that media trained to within an inch of their life. She’s so Communication Clinicked every time she opens her mouth.
Goodbye Noirin….
Now can they please bring in someone from outside the Jurisdiction.
It’ll take more than Noirin going, they need to clear out the top three or four ranks and fill them with either civilians or foreign cops.
i suspect that’s the fear in Govt circles. Say they hire in some chap from The Met who lands over and on day 1 asks for briefing on how X, Y and Z are done.
by around half twelve that day, he’ll probably be appalled, and ask that a significant percent of the upper echelons of the force are hoiked out, pronto.
that’s a level of systemic shock that no government will want to be there for, because the ramifications on previous convictions etc will be huge.
Simply replacing the commissioner won’t fix the Gardai. Much more is required.
its clearly rotten from the bottom up as well as top down, replacing the commissioner will not improve things no more than expecting improvement in the HSE everytime we change Health Minister
Dousing a fire won’t rebuild the house, but you really should do it as a first step.
Hiring the arsonists accomplice as clerk of works probably not the best plan either.
Fantastic metaphor.
Are they copying that famous pre Monty Python sketch,?Willie is channeling his inner Ronnie Corbett
Ugh Jim O’Callaghan. Watched him on Vincent Browne last night defending the indefensible (NAMA secrecy and it’s massive losses to the state) and previously on the six one doing the same thing (regarding judges exemption to declare interests). FF always wheel him out because he will literally say whatever the current party policy is and keep a straight face.

Frost report, Jim O Callaghan makes an excellent John Cleese, Genuinely
