We have a “Special Select Committee on Brexit” and it’s interested in Bertie Ahern’s opinion?
    Looks like we’re fupped.

Brother, who could fail to agree with you. One of the principal architects of the disaster which almost destroyed this country, (who had the nous to get out before the bomb exploded) is now some sort of Statesman and Guru?!? Jesus Christ, what is wrong with this country?

Hopefully they’ve brought him in so they can remind themselves how not to proceed.
    I strongly doubt it, sadly.

Bertie’s facial expression in the second photo looks like he’s trying to let on off, but is close to Alan Shatter-ing his pants.

“Stop talking down de economy, people who do dat should commit suicide” – He said, before the biggest Economic Crash we’ve ever had. Resulting in many Irish people commiting suicide due to financial stress

Anyway… He made an interesting point about the GF Agreement letting us negotiate our own non-trade agreement with the UK. He claims Europe agrees with this.

Would like to hear more about that.

Yup, I detest Ahern but he was taoiseach for three terms and clearly he has some knowledge/experience. Including on negotiations.

The least he could do is share his thoughts.

And the Select Committee should try to ignore the messenger and consider the message.

It’s not like he is actually being put in charge of anything!
