Not surprised, the hypocrisy of all western nations criticizing human rights in select regimes but ignoring them in others stinks

Trade trumps every notion of human decency, every time, Happy. The stench rises, but our ‘betters’ affect not to notice.

+1 Not many UN countries are in a position to comment on others stance on human rights.

Personally, I think KSA should have a seat. They are progressing womens rights in some ways, but, like Ireland of past (and present in many areas), the church still controls the government. Women were allowed vote last November for the first time, and 8 women got seats. Women in the work place is growing dramatically, and their thought education is greater and more available then the men (as they can’t rely on inheritance and/or nepotism). The more KSA have a presence, and are witness to womens rights out of KSA, the better.

Can you provide some evidence to back up this statement?

I did, which is why I asked for evidence of the assertions you are making. Do you have any or was that simply your opinion?

Ireland voting Saudi Arabia on to a panel of Women’s rights is entirely unsurprising in the context of our ongoing protests over the 8th amendment and religious interference in our healthcare.

Yet many pro-choice commentators welcome the votes and critiques of such countries on UN Commissions when those committees support their cause. Cant have your cake and eat it.

Ever noticed that cake eaters don’t get punished by the health services for getting fat, but get free treatment, courtesy of tax payers for their “self inflicted” predicament.

I’d say at least a week in Dubai, with use of a platinum credit card.
