Came across this at Charlemont Bridge at 8.15 today across from a ghost bike where a cyclist was run over by truck last year. Garda motorcycle had set up a scene. Was the driver caught in the act?

Yeah, either that or else a small bit of cop on as regards what time heavy loads get driven through main thoroughfares.

Tractors driving at 40-60 in 100-120km/h during rush hour is dangerous.

Shouldn’t be doing it at all, the company building that site have a carefree attitude to Traffic management plans, the cycle lane is part of their access route in their view. They took a chunk out of a tree branch on the canal the other day and left it hanging off, I’d be careful passing under it, looks like it’ll fall eventually.

Yup: between the new building at the end of the road the hotel is on, and the new hotel they’re building in where the Charlemont Clinic was, it’s dodgy along that bit for cyclists in particular.
Having said that, pretty much every cyclist breaks the pedestrian lights at that junction.
Twas mayhem there at around 8.50 this morning between rubbernecking and general douchebaggery.

I don’t see why people caught in the act of breaking the law should have their number plate blocked out.
They’ll sue for libel, and almost certainly win. If the guy’s truck just broke down, the implication he was “caught in the act” would be worth about 25k in the Circuit Court
As a journalist, I’m sure you’re aware that libel doesn’t exist as an offence anymore, and also that one has no expectation of privacy in a public place.
It’s a civil tort. And he would sue over the comment on Broadsheet, having been identified by the publication of his number plate
