A Limerick A Day

Tourism expert Professor Michael Hall has described Dublin as a ‘rip-off’ destination

If you’re looking for fun and good cheer
Then be careful, for some people fear
That our prices are high
And they just can’t see why
A person would want to come here.

There’s truth to what he’s saying but he does come across as a bit of a crank at the same time.

Isn’t it amazing how it takes an outsider to call it as it is, especially when it is blindingly obvious that Dublin is over priced and still suffering from the Irish disease which to my mind is excessive greed. I travel a lot, and it always makes me sick when I come home and in the cafes of Dublin, you’re expected a lot more for a lot less. I get the impression that the service industry looks at the prices in central London and then copies them over here.

Likewise, I travel in mainland Europe a lot too, it’s always so depressing to come back here. Filthy streets (thanks to privatised refuse collection), rip-off prices and a sad ‘us and them’ mentality between the haves and the have nots. Sadly, our FG government of recent years has done nothing but exacerbate all of these problems. I would happily, hand our sovereignty over to Brussels, things could only get better.

” And while the Garda Síochána had halted the investigation into alleged blasphemy by Fry “because they could not find enough people to be outraged over his anti-God remarks on Irish television” ”

Get rid of this fuppin law before some priest, imam or rabbi tries enforcement of it for some stupid sky fairies sake!

I’ve seen someone in another thread justify a ridiculous price for a box in Ranelagh because you could rent it out at 1800 a month “with ease”. We need more empathy in our society.
